WARRENSBURG, Mo. (Jan. 19, 2019) - Central Missouri Jennies Basketball picked up their second straight MIAA win Saturday taking down No. 24 Lindenwood Saturday afternoon at the Multi. The Jens shot 66.7% in the second half to fuel their six-point win. The Jens move to 12-4 this season and 5-3 in the MIAA.
How it Happened
• Both teams were pretty even all around and the match-up came down to who wanted it more.
• On the game, the Jennies were 7-21 from the behind the arc, compared to the Lions 7-17. Shooting from the field was also even with the Jennies right at 50% and the Lions at 49%.
• The Jennies outscored Lindenwood in bench points 21-18.
• Both teams were turnover prone with the Lions losing the ball 15 times and the Jennies 16 times. The Jennies grabbed one-more rebound than Lindenwood, 26-25.
• The Lions came out with the heat, leading the Jennies the majority of the first. After the media timeout, the Jennies turned up it on going on an 8-0 run ending the first quarter with the lead 14-10.
Paige Redmond hit a layup with four seconds left on the clock.
• The second quarter is when the Lions woke up and went on an 11-0 run early to reclaim a 21-14 lead with 4:58 remaining in the half.
Morgan Fleming finally got the Jennies on the board in the second with back-to-back layups. With 1:34 left in the half,
Paige Redmond tied the game for the fourth time with a layup, her 13th point of the half.
• A big three from Peyton Taylor gave the Jennies a one point lead 26-25, but a free-throw from Lindenwood tied it up going into the break 26-26.
• The third quarter was even to start both teams going shot for shot. With 2:16 remaining, it was still a one-point lead in favor of the Jens. Redmond and Taylor went to work on the floor as UCM went 3-4 in the final 1:46 and led after three, 50-46.
• Lindenwood started the final quarter with a three on their first possession, but the Jens answered with a 5-0 run. A big three from Redmond, and a layup form Taylor forced a Lindenwood timeout and set the score at 55-49 with 7:35 remaining.
Morgan Fleming added a three after the timeout and the Jens had their largest lead, 58-49.
• The Lions came back with a 6-0 run of their own though after two big three-pointers to trail by just three 58-55 with 4:50 remaining.
• Up by two, the Jens got a layup from Taylor and a crushing three-pointer from
Sydney Crockett as they went up by seven. The lead never got below four the rest of the way as UCM went 8-8 at the free throw line in the final minute.
It Was Over When...
• With a minute remaining, the Lions needed to foul. The Jens saved their best free-throw shooting performance for when they needed it most, going 8-8 at the line in the final 43 seconds to keep the Lions from getting close.
Jennies Stat Leaders

Paige Redmond was the rock of the Jennies offense with 25-points, six rebounds, two assists, one steal, and one block. She was 11-18 from the field.

Peyton Taylor scored a career-high of 16-points while adding three rebounds, and one steal. She went 2-3 from behind the arc and 6-7 from the floor.

Morgan Fleming added 17 points, two rebounds, three assists, one steal, and one block.
•
Megan Skaggs finished with nine points and grabbed a team-high seven boards to go along with two assists, one steal, and one block.

Sydney Crockett added five-points, four rebounds, and one assist.
For the Lions
• Charisse Williams was 6-9 from the floor and scored 15 points with a team-best seven assists.
• Lexie Moe added 14 points going 6-11 with a team-high seven rebounds.
• Lindsay Medlen scored 13-points going 3-6 from behind the arc, grabbed three rebounds and dished our four assists.
News and Notes
• The Jens set a new team record at the free throw line, going a perfect 17-17. UCM's previous best perfect game was 13-13 set in 2007.

Peyton Taylor scored a new career-high with 16 points. She also went over 100 career rebounds.

Paige Redmond scored half of the Jennies points in the first half (13 of 26). She was also the only Jennies to make a field goal until
Morgan Fleming with 4:46 left in the second quarter. Redmond also eclipsed 1500 career points, just the eighth Jennie to ever do that.
•
Megan Skaggs moved closer to 1,000 points going over 900 for her career.
• Both teams were lights out in the second half. The Jens were 16-24 for 67% and 6-12 from three while the Lions went 16-28 (57%) and 6-10 from behind the arc.
• Central Missouri did a good job keeping Kallie Bilder in check. She came in to the game in the top-two in the MIAA in both points and rebounds and was held to just four points and two boards.

• The Jennies remain home to take on Southwest Baptist next Saturday, Jan. 26 with a 1:30 p.m. tipoff.
