Jens Roll Bearcats, Win Third Straight

WARRENSBURG, Mo. (Jan. 26, 2019) - Central Missouri Jennies Basketball jumped all over Southwest Baptist early and was never challenged in their 75-63 win over the Bearcats. The Jens have now won three straight and move to 13-4 this season, 6-3 in the MIAA.

How it Happened
• The Jennies scored on their opening possession and never trailed, leading for 39:34 of the game.
• The Bearcats outshot the Jens 42% to 35%, but Central Missouri made 11 three-pointers, going 11-27 from three.
• UCM also held a big edge in rebounding, 44-35, and 18-6 on the offensive glass which led to nine second-chance points.
• Blink and you may have missed the Jennies blistering start. Kim Crown scored on UCM's first possession and it was 11-0 Jennies less than four minutes into the game. Paige Redmond and Megan Skaggs got in on the action with threes during the 11-0 start.
• After a layup cut the lead back down to nine, Sydney Crockett entered and buried a three of her own putting the Jens back up 12 at the 6:04 mark. The Jens led by double-figures for the final 35:56 of the game.
• UCM built a 20-point lead in the first quarter, 24-4, with 3:13 left to go in the period. Megan Skaggs scored eight straight all on her own taking the lead from 12 to 20.
• For the final three quarters the Jennies were content to trade baskets with the Bearcats and that's what they did. SBU actually outscored UCM 54-49 for the final 30 minutes, with most of the damage coming late in the fourth quarter.

It Was Over When...
• For fans hoping to see an exciting game, this one was over pretty early. Megan Skaggs put the Jens up 20 with three minutes left in the first quarter and the Bearcats were never able to get the lead back down to single digits.

Jennies Stat Leaders
• Two Jens were in double-figures led by Megan Skaggs who matched a season-best with 23 points. She fell two rebounds shy of a double-double with eight and was 8-14 from the floor, 3-5 from three.
• Morgan Fleming pulled down a double-double with 21 points and 11 rebounds. She was 7-7 at the free throw line and also dished out four assists.
