WARRENSBURG, Mo. (Sept. 22, 2018) - In a top-25 matchup, No. 13 Central Missouri Jennies Volleyball fell at home to No. 21 Washburn 3-1 (22-25, 25-18, 17-25, 21-25). The loss puts UCM at 12-4 for the season and 3-2 in the MIAA.
How it Happened
• Central Missouri outhit the Ichabods .242-.238, but scored 12 less points, 74 to 62.
• The Ichabod defense had an answer for UCM with 84 digs to the Jennies 76. They also outblocked UCM 8-4.
• The first set was the closest of the bunch with 10 ties, seven lead changes and a three-point difference at the end. Still tied at 17-all, Washburn took a two-point lead with a kill and UCM ball-handling error and never gave it up on their way to a 25-22 win. Washburn scored four straight points to got from a 19-18 one-point lead to 23-18 lead and the Jens couldn't recover.Â
• UCM had an answer in set two and led for most of the frame. Trailing 7-4,
Kylie Hohlen landed four straight kills to give UCM a lead they would never give back.
Audrey Fisher hit the exclamation point at the end with a big kill ending the set at 25-18. The Jens hit .400 for the set with just three errors and a 77% sideout percentage.
• The Jennies held a slim lead at the outset of set three, but it didn't last long. They led by as many as three, 9-6, but Washburn used a 6-1 run to take the lead and held it the rest of the way. Still ahead by three, 18-15, the Ichabods put the game away with a 6-0 stretch and scored seven of the final nine points in the set.
• Set four saw eight ties, but once again, Washburn pulled ahead late and the Jennies couldn't overcome. A kill from
Hannah VanBuskirk made it 8-5 Jennies. That was their largest lead. Washburn came right back with a 5-1 run making it 10-9. The teams went back and forth for a bit before Washburn scored three straight to take a four-point lead, 20-16 and held on, 25-21.
Jennies Stat Leaders
• One game after setting a new career-high,
Kylie Hohlen hit for her previous career high in kills with game-best 18. She also had 13 digs for a double-double.

Ally Offerdahl passed out 48 assists and dug up 10 Ichabod attacks.

Audrey Fisher hit for 12 kills and
Hannah VanBuskirk 10.

Abby Skrastins had a team-best 24 digs while
Carly Offerdahl added 12.

Rylee Neigenfind picked up seven kills and 11 digs.
For the Ichabods
• Erica Montgomery scored at team-best 16 kills and added six digs.
• Shayla Conner filled out the box score with 41 assists, 12 digs and seven kills.
• Genna Berg had a double-double with 11 kills and 14 digs.
• Faith Rottinghaus had a game-high 28 digs.
News and Notes
• The loss is the Jennies first at home in the last 20 games. The last home loss was also to Washburn in 2016.
• The Jennies are now 7-6 in the last 13 matches against Washburn.

Hannah Engelken reached 100 career kills.
