MARYVILLE, Mo. (Sept. 15, 2018) - No. 9 Central Missouri Jennies Volleyball ran into trouble Saturday night in Maryville, taking on a very good Northwest Missouri Bearcat team. The Jennies lost for just the third time this season, falling 3-0 (25-11, 25-18, 25-21) and stand at 10-3 (1-1 MIAA) on the season.
How it Happened
• The Bearcats came out swinging and hit .408 for the match with 51 kills on 103 attempts with just nine errors. Through the first two sets, the Bearcats were hitting .452 and out-blocking UCM 7-0.
• The Jens committed 16 attack errors and hit just .184.
• Northwest scored seven more blocking points (9-2), three more service points (5-2) and had 53 digs to the Jennies 40.Â
• The first frame set the tone for the match which was all Bearcats. They took a 7-2 lead and never trailed on their way to a 25-11 win.Â
• After a brief battle to start, the Bearcats charged forward in set two thanks to an 8-0 run that saw a 6-6 tie quickly turn into a 14-6 Northwest lead. UCM was able to cut it to four, but no closer and NWMSU went on to a 25-18 win.
• The Jens had chances in the third set getting ahead 6-1 with three kills from
Audrey Fisher. The lead didn't last as the Bearcats came back to tie the set at six. From there, the set saw five ties and three lead changes. The Jens went back on top by four, 13-9, but a 6-2 NWMSU tied things at 15-15, then a 4-1 run made it 19-16 in favor of the home team. The Jens never got back to within a point and Northwest swept with a 25-21 win.

Audrey Fisher had a team-best 13 kills and two blocks. She hit .565 for the match.

Kylie Hohlen recorded another double-double with 12 kills and 12 digs.

Ally Offerdahl passed out 29 assists while landing four kills and scooping up five digs.
For the Bearcats
• Maddy Bruder picked up a double-double with 19 kills and 15 digs.
• Maddy Ahrens helped out with 43 assists on 51 kills.
• Bethany Elkins added 12 kills and hit .800 for the match.
• Olivia Nowakowski totaled 12 digs and two service aces.
News and Notes
• The loss snaps the Jennies season-long five game winning streak.
• The Jennies 40 digs are their fewest this season.
• This is just the third time under Coach Piontek an opponent has hit .400 or better for a match. It last occurred in 2013.
• Northwest has now picked up a win over the Jennies in each of the last three years.
