Jens Drop Five Set Match to No. 13 West Florida

DENVER, Colo. (August 31, 2018) - No. 14 Central Missouri Jennies Volleyball appeared to be in command of No. 13 West Florida, but couldn't deliver the knockout blow in a 3-2 (25-17, 25-22, 21-25, 18-25, 10-15) loss. The Jennies led two sets to none and had a 7-3 lead early in set three. The loss is the Jennies first this season, dropping them to 4-1.

How It Happened
• In a sloppy game, both teams committed at least 30 attack errors and seven service errors each.
• UCM hit .119 and was bested by the Argonauts who hit .133.
• Both team landed 14 blocks.
• The Jennies took an early lead in the opening set 3-0 and never trailed on their way to a 25-17 set win. The Jens pushed their lead to 6-1 following a pair of UWF attack errors and led by as many as seven, 17-10. That's when the Argonauts made a 6-1 run to get to within two, 18-16. Following a UCM timeout, the Jens got kills from Audrey Fisher and two from Kylie Hohlen bringing the lead back to five. UCM closed the set on a 7-1 run to put UWF away. West Florida hit -.091 in the set with six kills and nine errors.
• Both teams were jockying for the lead in the early portion of set two. The score was still tied up at 13-all when the Argonauts scored three straight to take a 16-13 lead. UCM answered right away though with a 5-1 run and retook the lead, 18-17. They never trailed again, ending the set at 25-22 on a kill from Rylee Neigenfind.
• The Jennies appeared in prime position for a sweep, getting on top early, 7-3. Six of the Jens first seven points came off of UWF errors and once they cleaned up those miscues, it was all Argonauts. West Florida took their first lead at 12-11 and never trailed again. The Jennies got back to within one, 18-17, but UWF held on for a 25-21 win.
• Central Missouri scored the first point of set four, and that was the only lead they held. West Florida went up 4-1 and led the rest of the way. They built a lead to seven, 12-5, before the Jens cut it three, 14-11. UWF scored four straight after that brief outburst to put hold UCM off and put them away 25-18.
• Kylie Hohlen and Ally Offerdahl got UCM off on the right foot in set five with a pair of kills and the Jens were off and running at 2-0. West Florida came back to tie at 4-apiece and then a 4-1 stretch gave them a three-point lead, 8-5. They held that lead the rest of the way, despite UCM getting to within one on two occasions. The Argonauts ended the match with a 15-10 win in game five.
