WARRENSBURG, Mo. (August 25, 2018) - No. 22 ranked Jennies Volleyball battled No. 4 Florida Southern in an AVCA Top 25 match up, in the final day of the Peggy Martin Challenge. The Jennies swept Florida Southern 3-0 (25-5, 25-15, 29-27) to improve to 4-0 on the season.
Play-by-Play
• UCM came out strong in the first set leading Florida Southern early 5-0.
Audrey Fisher had the first two kills for the Jens leaving the set score 2-0,
Carly Offerdahl added a big service ace for the Jennies to put them up 3-0. The Jennies keep attacking to put them up 6-0, before Florida Southern finally gets on the scoreboard 6-1. Central Missouri went on a six-point run midway through the first set to leave the score 12-2. The Jens forced a timeout after they increased their lead to 19-5. After that the rest was all Jennies, scoring four straight kills to end the set 25-5.
• The Jennies dominated set number two just like the first. UCM comes out with momentum with a 5-0 lead early before Florida Southern got on the board. Florida Southern picks up their first point on a kill to set the score 5-1.
Audrey Fisher then adds two back-to-back kills to set the score 12-9, forcing a Florida Southern timeout. After the break, Florida Southern cut the score to two points 14-12. A service ace by
Carly Offerdahl, followed by a kill from
Kylie Hohlen in the very next play extended the lead 15-13. An error by Florida Southern, and a kill by the freshman
Hannah Engelken put the Jennies up two more, 17-13, forcing another timeout. Coming out of the timeout, two consecutive kills, one by
Kylie Hohlen, and one from Florida Southern, give the Jens a 21-15 lead. That was the last Florida Southern would score for the second set.
Hannah VanBuskirk had a big kill setting up UCM for the match point, and a Florida Southern attack error gave the Jennies the second set 25-15.
• The third set was unlike any other. The Jennies had a slow start as Florida Southern scored eight straight on the Jennies leaving the score 8-0 early. The Jennies finally get on the board when
Audrey Fisher smacks down a powerful kill leaving the score 8-1. UCM tried to fight back after that by cutting Florida Southern's lead to three when Hannah Vanbuskirk connected for a kill leaving the score 13-10. The Jennies still had some work to do as Florida Southern was not going away. The Jennies tied the game for the first time with a kill by
Kylie Hohlen to make the teams even 14-14. Both teams go point-for-point for a while, before Florida Southern begins to pull away at 24-19. At set point, the Jennies had a huge kill by Freshman
Hannah Engelken to put the score at 24-20.
Audrey Fisher comes back right after that with a kill of her own to add another point to the board. The Jennies were able to hold Florida Southern scoreless, before Hannah Vanbuskirk tied up the game with a kill at 24-24. The back and forth continued with three ties until a floater that landed for a kill from sophomore
Audrey Fisher ended the set 29-27.

News and Notes
• Central Missouri defeated an AVCA top-5 opponent for the first time since 2014, when they defeated then-fourth ranked Nebraska-Kearney 3-2.
• Today also marked the first time the Jennies have held an opponent to five or fewer points in a set since 2014, when they did so in the opening set against Pittsburg State.
• Including their win against #14 Arkansas Tech Friday, the Jennies have defeated two-straight ranked opponents and two of the four they face in the season's first six matches.

Audrey Fisher reached career kill number 400 in the match.

Ally Offerdahl had three double-doubles in four matches.
• In four matches this weekend, the Jennies averaged more than 15 kills per set and hit .232 while limiting opponents to a .158 attack percentage.
• The win over the Mocs breaks a four-all series tie.
