Jennies Split With Lindenwood to End Regular Season

ST. CHARLES, Mo. (April 21, 2018) - The 2018 Central Missouri Jennies regular season has come to a close. The Jennies wrapped up with a split of Lindenwood, winning game one 6-4, before dropping the finale 6-0. UCM finishes the regular season at 30-20 and 19-7 in the MIAA.

Game One - Central Missouri 6, Lindenwood 4
Play-by-Play

• Central Missouri got on top big in this one and needed to hang on for a tight two-run game.
• Neither team could get much going offensively in the early going. Second time through the lineup though, and the Jennies bats started to wake up. With one out in the fourth, Payton Summers walked and Hailey Crabtree put one over the right-centerfield fence for a two run blast.
• UCM wasn't done there though. Following the home run, Kaitlyn Markin and Alexis Koop each singled and Allie Dishinger was hit by a pitch to load the bases. A fielding error allowed Markin to score. Koop scored the Jennies final run on Lauryn Deer's RBI fielder's choice.
• An inning later it was Crabtree again, making it 5-0 with an RBI single to right.
• The Jens seemed to be in control, but the Lions were building a comeback. They got two unearned runs in the bottom of the inning scoring one on a throwing error and the second on a sacrifice fly.
• Payton Summer's RBI single put the Jennies back up by four, 6-2 heading to the bottom of the sixth.
• With one out, the Lions got the run back on a sacrifice fly. They then cut the lead to two, 6-4, one batter later with an RBI double to left center.
• The Jennies didn't score in the seventh and a one-out triple for the Lions brought the tying run to the plate. Giacone got a strikeout and ground ball to end the game and record the save.

Jennies Stat Leaders
• UCM pounded 11 hits to the Lions six. Five Jennies recorded two hits in the game: Taylor Dames, Payton Summers, Hailey Crabtree, Kaitlyn Markin and Courtni Smith.
• Crabtree drove in three runs and scored another.
• Summers reached base three times with two singles and a walk.
• Dames had two hits, scored a run and stole a base.
• Markin was the only other Jennie with an extra-base hit, a triple in the second.
Alexa Bradley started and got the win. She pitched five innings giving up four runs (two earned) on four hits with three strikeouts.
Katie Giacone pitched the final two innings for her second save of the season. She gave up two hits while striking out two.

Game Two - Lindenwood 6, Central Missouri 0

With the bases loaded, Megan Clark drove in a run with a bases loaded walk. Austine Pauley drove in the final two runs with a triple to left center, making it 5-0 after two.
