WARRENSBURG, Mo. (March 28, 2018) - Central Missouri Mules Baseball snapped a brief two-game skid with a 7-3 win in their series opener against Nebraska-Kearney. The win pushes UCM to 22-7 and 13-5 in the MIAA.
Play-by-Play
• The Mules came to bat in eight different innings and scored in seven of them.
Mason Janvrin created the Mules first run by himself in the first. He singled, stole second, moved to third on a wild pitch, and scored on an
Erik Webb groundout.
• In Webb's next at bat, he got the ball in the air and over the fence, putting UCM up 2-0 after three innings. That started a stretch of six straight innings of UCM scoring exactly one run.
• The following inning,
Justin Graff-Rowe hit home run number three over the left field fence. The Lopers answered getting a run on a two-out RBI single to left from Brandon Hernandez.
• Janvrin stole his second base of the game in the fifth and came around to score on
Travis Able's RBI single to center.
Zak Whalin jumped on the RBI parade with a sacrifice fly scoring
John Fairchild.
• It looked like UCM might not score in the seventh, but
Collin Nevil stepped up to the plate and crushed a 1-2 pitch over the right field fence for a 6-1 lead. UCM's final run came on Whalin's second RBI, a long double to center field as
Donovan Ditto trotted home.
• The Lopers made things interesting in the ninth, scoring a pair of runs, one on a fielder's choice and another on a wild pitch. They brought the tying run into the on-deck circle, but
Jonathan Sprinkle shut the door getting a 3-2 flyout to right.
Mules Stat Leaders
• The Mules collected 10 hits in the game.
Collin Nevil led the way going 3-4 with a home run.

Mason Janvrin was the only other Mule with multiple hits. He was 2-5 with two stolen bases and two runs scored.

Zak Whalin went 1-3 and drove in two runs.

Erik Webb and
Justin Graff-Rowe were each 1-4 with a home run. Webb drove in a pair of runs.
• On the mound,
Brandon Reid started and went 4.1 innings giving up just two hits while striking out three.

Coby Seiz picked up the win throwing 3.2 innings, allowing an unearned run on one hits with two walks and five strikeouts.
For the Lopers
• Mitchell Robinson got the start and pitched the first seven innings, giving up six runs (four earned) on eight hits with a walk and five strikeouts.
• Will Olson reached base three times with a hit and two walks. He also scored a run.
• Brandon Hernandez was 1-4 with an RBI. Calvin Rudolph had a hit and scored a run.
News and Notes
• Coby Siez matched a career-high with 3.2 innings pitched and his 75 pitches were the most in his career.
• Eric Webb remains two up on
Collin Nevil in the home run department, 9-7.
• The four hits the Mules allowed are the second-fewest this season.
• Nevil now has a team-leading five three-hit games.
• With his two stolen-bases,
Mason Janvrin is up to 24 this season.
