Jens Rally for Walkoff Win

MARYVILLE, Mo. Central Missouri Jennies Softball got back on the field Saturday afternoon in Maryville, taking on a pair of teams from the Northern Sun. The Jens found their footing in game two and led most of the way, but needed a seventh-inning comeback to complete the win. UCM split their two games and stand at 10-14 on the season.

Game Two - Central Missouri 9, Concordia-St. Paul 8
Play-by-Play

• Central Missouri scored the first four runs of the game, getting two in each of the first two innings. Payton Summers had an RBI sacrifice fly in the first and Taylor Dames drove in two with a single in the second.
• Concordia, who left runners on base in each of the first three innings, finally broke through in the fourth. They tied the game with four runs, three of them unearned. Nicole Thompson tied the game with a two-RBI single up the middle.
• The Jennies were able to answer right away scoring three runs in the bottom of the inning to retake the lead. Hailey Crabtree scored on Taylor Dames' sacrifice bunt and later scored on Courtni Smith's two-out RBI single. Lauryn Deer also scored stealing home as a part of a double steal.
• The Golden Bears though tied the game again in the sixth and took their first lead in the seventh. Hannah Carlson's two-RBI single tied the game. They looked to take the lead in the inning on a double-steal attempt, but Haley Schanks was gunned down at the plate to end the inning. Another two-out RBI for the Golden Bears, this time by Carlie Hart, put CSP ahead.
• Central Missouri was down to their final out in the seventh when Alexis Koop walked to put the tying run on base. Then three straight singles, from Allie Dishinger, Crabtree and Deer sent the Jennies home victorious.

Jennies Stat Leaders
• Crabtree picked up three hits in the game, a season-best. She also scored twice and drove in the tying run.
• Deer, Koop and Dishinger all had two hits each. 
Taylor Dames reached base with a hit and drove in three runs. 
Payton Summers and Courtni Smith both had an RBI.
Katie Giacone got the win for UCM pitching the final 1.2 innings and giving up one unearned run on two thirs.
Shelby Clark started and last 3.1 innings allowing four runs (one earned) on six hits with two walks.

For the Golden Bears
• Nicole Thompson and Amanda Parsons each collected three hits. Thompson drove in two runs and scored another.
• Cam Veenbaas and Lily Langevin each scored twice. 
• Carlie Hart and Justine Schattner both had a hit and an RBI.
• Kali Kaestner pitched 3.2 innings out of the bullpen. She gave up three runs on six hits with a walk and a strikeout. 

Game One - Upper Iowa - 13, Central Missouri 4 - 5 Innings
How it Happened

• A pair of big innings did the Jennies in against the Peacocks. Upper Iowa scored four in the first and seven in the fourth on their way to a 13-4 win.
• All four runs in the first were unearned. A two-out two-RBI single from Jordyn Brennan was the biggest hit of the inning.
Taylor Dames singled and scored in the first for the Jens. She also drove in Lauryn Deer, cutting the lead down to 4-2.
• The game was 6-3 Upper Iowa when they exploded for seven runs on six hits in the fourth. Katie Crogan drove in two with a home run to center.

Jennies Stat Leaders
Lauryn Deer scored two of the Jennies four runs. She also collected a hit and stole two bases.
Taylor Dames finished 1-2 with a run and an RBI.
Courtni Smith walked three stole three bases.
Alexa Bradley was the Jennies most effective pitcher going 1-2 innings giving up no runs on one hit with a walk and a strikeout.
Katie Giacone got the start and lasted 2.1 innings giving runs, but only two earned. 

For the Peacocks
• Christonna Shafranski was 3-3 on the day with two runs scored.
• Jordyn Brennan and Sarah Nix each tallied two RBI. 
• Erin Drahozel pitched all five innings and gave up just one hits and two runs to te earn the win. 

News and Notes
• The Jennies win is their third walk off win this season.
• UCM has won five of their last seven games.
• The 13 runs the Jennies allowed to Upper Iowa is their most this season. 
• Central Missouri stole nine bases in two games. Smith had three against the Peacocks.
• The Jennies are averaging 6.6 runs per game in their last five games.

• The Jennies will stay in Maryville to finish up their Northern Sun crossover. UCM will take on Northern State and Wayne State (Neb.) Game times are scheduled for 1 and 3 p.m.
