Durant, Okla. (Feb. 3, 2018) - For the second straight day, Central Missouri Jennies Softball picked up a split in Durant. After losing game one to Arkansas Tech, the Jennies rallied for a walk-off win against East Central.
Game Two: Central Missouri 2, East Central 1
Play by Play
• It was a classic pitcher's dual that was scoreless until the sixth inning.
• Both pitcher's were cruising. The Jennies had a chance to score in the second when they got two on with one out. Back-to-back fly balls to center put an end to that threat.
• The Tigers got the leadoff hitter on in the second and fifth innings, but neither runner made it past first base.
• UCM finally pushed a run across in the sixth inning.
Taylor Dames knocked a one-out single and
Emily King drove her in with a two-out RBI single.
• That lead was short lived though, as the Tigers answered in the seventh. The first four runners all reached base for the Tigers, who scored the tying run on a walk. After a short fly ball kept the bases loaded,
Lauryn Deer ensured the game remained tied with a diving catch in right field. The inning ended on that play as the runner on second base left early.
• One half inning later, the Jennies ended the game.
Kaitlyn Markin led off the bottom of the seventh with a single. She moved to third on
Alexis Koop's sacrifice bunt. With one out,
Payton Summers got the call to pinch hit, and delivered with a game-winner single.
