MARSHALL, Mo. (Feb. 3, 2018)-- Sophomore Chase Miller earned a fifth place finish at the Missouri Valley College Open at 285 pounds to lead Mules Wrestling. Miller finished the day with a 4-2 record for Central Missouri.

Daide Agnew and Dakota Huss each finished 2-2 for the Mules at 133 pounds and 157 pounds, respectively, but just missed out on placing. 

Miller's first loss came in his opening match as he was pinned in 3:48 to move into the consolation bracket. He he scored his first win by way of pin over Davroy Atkinson of William Penn. He carried that momentum into his next two matches and scored his next two wins via pinfall. He pinned Lahmad Evens of Baker in 2:59 and followed that up with another first period pin, this time over Andy Tope of Bethany College. Miller won his final match by way of medical forfeit over William Wan of William Penn.

Agnew scored both his wins in his first two matches by decision before falling in the next two. He started the day with a 10-5 decision over Lucas Bernal of SIU-Edwardsville. His second win was a bit close as he held off Corey Muniz of University of the Ozarks with a 5-4 decision. Both of his losses came via pin. 

Huss also picked up both of his wins by decision. His first match was a shutout as he defeated Mason Hogland of Missouri valley College 5-0. He dropped his second match by way of pin, but bounced back in match No. 3. He scored a 6-3 decision Julian Barros of Missouri Valley, before falling Courtney Strauss of Bethany.

The Mules are back in action this coming Tuesday, Feb. 6, for their final dual of the regular season. They will take on in-region foe Drury at the Multi with mat action getting underway at 7 p.m.
