EMPORIA, Kan. (Feb. 19, 2018) - Central Missouri Jennies Softball walked-off with a win in their first game Sunday afternoon in Emporia. The Jens couldn't keep up the momentum in game though, dropping the night cap. UCM now stands at 5-9 on the season.
Game One - Central Missouri 2, Illinois- Springfield 1 - 8 innings
Play-by-Play
• Both teams got on the board in the opening inning. A two-out RBI single plated a run for the Prairie Stars. UCM tied it on an
Allie Dishinger sacrifice fly to score
Makayla Schoonover.
• After that, the pitcher's took over. Neither team scored for the next six innings.
• Illinois-Springfield had a great chance to score in the fifth. They led off the inning with a double and, with two outs, loaded the bases. But relief pitcher
Katie Giacone got a fly out to right to keep the game tied.
• Because it was a non-conference game, the international tie-breaker rule was in effect starting in the eighth. The Prairie Stars got a runner to third with one out, but back-to-back line drives on the infield ended the threat.
• The Jennies were set up in the eighth with runners on first and third after Schoonover led off the inning with a single. A fielder's choice though erased the runner on third and UCM was left with runners on first and second with one out.
• After a strikeout and a fielding error loaded the bases with two out,
Payton Summers came through with an RBI single to win the game for the Jennies.

• Central Missouri got runners on base, but couldn't bring them around. The Jennies left at least one runner on base in six of seven innings.
