ST. LOUIS, Mo. (Nov. 23, 2018) - Central Missouri Mules Basketball picked up their fifth win of the season Friday afternoon, defeating Maryville 83-76. Four Mules were in double-figures as UCM overcame a three-point halftime deficit.
How It Happened
• Central Missouri scored 53 second-half points after scoring just 30 in the first half.
• The Saints shot nearly 50% at 49.2%, while UCM was 26-57 for 45.6%. The Saints also had an advantage on three-pointers, 40.9%-34.8%.
• The Mules big advantage came at the free throw line. UCM was 23-27 at the line for 85.2%, including 17-19 in the second half.
• UCM did a great job of holding onto the ball, committing just six turnovers. They forced nine from the Saints.
• The score was tied four times and there were seven lead changes. The Mules led for 30:42 of the game.
• Central Missouri built a large lead early, going up 19-9 on a layup from
Daniel Farris.
• Over the final 11:29 the Mules scored just 11 points as the Saints took the lead in the final minutes of the half and added a layup at the buzzer for a 33-30 halftime lead.
• The lead changed three times and the game was tied four times in the second half alone.
Matt Wilkinson gave the Mules a four-point lead, 39-35 with a three, and kept it at four with a pair of layups with 14:32 left to play.
• But the Saints went on a 12-3 run in just 3:53 and took a five-point lead, 54-49 midway through the second half.
• Wilkinson gave the Mules the lead for god with 7:16 left, breaking a 61-all tie with another three.
• In the final 2:05, the Mules were a perfect 8-8 at the free throw line as they staved off a Saints comeback attempt.
It Was Over When...
• A three from Casey Teson made it a three-point game, 79-76 with 53 second left to play. On the Mules next possession,
Gaven Pinkley grabbed an offensive rebound and finished with a layup putting the Mules up five with just 21 seconds left.
Mules Stat Leaders

Jafar Kinsey led the Mules with 18 points. He was 5-12 from the field with a pair of threes and six three throws.

Matt Wilkinson added 15 points and was 3-6 from three. He was a perfect 6-6 at the free throw line.

Daniel Farris chipped in all over with 14 points, six boards and three assists. He was 5-6 from the field and 4-4 at the line.

Brandon Emmert added eight points a team-high seven rebounds.
•
Gaven Pinkley also scored eight while
Michael Winger was 2-2 behind the line for six points.
For the Saints
• Casey Teson scored a game-high 24 points and was 4-6 from three.
• Chaz Glotta scored 15.
• Jordan Gary scored eight with seven rebounds.
• Robin Thompson chipped in 12 points on 5-7 shooting.
News and Notes
• This was the second time this season the Mules have scored 80 or more points. UCM has scored at least 70 points in all six games.
• The 53 second-half points are the most the Mules have scored in a half this season.
• UCM's 23 made free throws are also the most in a game this season.
