ST. LOUIS, Mo. (Nov. 24, 2018) - Central Missouri Mules Basketball wrapped up their week with an 84-74 loss to Missouri-St. Louis. It's just their second loss of the season as they fall to 5-2 on the year.
How it Happened
• The Tritons were hot all game long shooting 54.3% while the Mules were at just 41.8%. That disparity was greater in the second half with UMSL shooting 57.1% while holding the Mules to 37.9%.
• Rebounding was a big issue for the Mules as the Tritons grabbed 39 to UCM's 23. UMSL also led in the paint 26-16.
• UCM managed to shoot 46.7% from three with 14 three pointers, but were just 9-25 inside the arc.Â
• The Mules started the game on fire hitting their first four field goals. Just 2:42 into the game, the Mules already built a 10-point lead, 12-2.Â
• UMSL began to chip away and late in the first half took their first lead, 32-31. A 6-0 Triton run pushed the lead to 41-35.
Jafar Kinsey made it 41-37 knocking in a pair of free throws with just one second left before the break.
• Missouri-St. Louis scored the first points of the second half and led the rest of the way. Kinsey got it down to two, 45-43, but UMSL went on a 10-0 run after and led by double-figures over the final 7:19.
It Was Over When...
• With 4:53 remaining, the Mules got the lead back down to 10, 72-62 with a 4-0 run helped out by a
Blake Spellman three, but fouls on consecutive Triton possessions gave the four points right back and UCM couldn't bring the lead down to single digits.Â
