WARRENSBURG, Mo. (Nov. 20, 2018) - Central Missouri Jennies Basketball played their home opener in front of 2500 Tuesday afternoon at the Multipurpose Building. Before the game got underway, UCM unveiled their National Championship banner from a year ago. The Jennies defeated the Westminster Griffins 86-74 to improve to 4-0 this season.
How it Happened
• Central Missouri shot 47.5% from the floor, doing most of their damage in the first half. The Griffins matched UCM with a 47.5 shooting percentage while going 39% from three to the Jennies 24%.
• Central Missouri won the rebounding battle 36-29 including getting 14 offense boards. They used those opportunities to score 14 second-chance points.
• The Jennies turned the ball over just 12 times and committed 16 fouls.
• The Jennies led for nearly the entire game, 39:25 and briefly trailed by one, 4-3 for just 22 seconds.
• UCM got off to a fantastic start scoring 25 or more points in both the first and second quarters. Down 4-3, the Jennies went on a 12-0 run to take a 15-4 lead and never looked back.

Sydney Crockett each hit threes during the runs.
• Central Missouri's defense held the Griffins to just 23 first-half points, fewer than UCM scored in either quarter. At the break UCM led 51-23.
• Crockett got the Jennies off in the second half with a three to their largest lead, 54-23.
• Things didn't go as easily in the second half the Jens who were outscored 51-35.

Emilie Jobst knocked in a pair of three throws at the end of the third and the Jennies still led by 21, 72-51.
• Westminster got the lead down to 10, 72-62 with 6:07 left in the game. They started the fourth on a 9-0 run.
• That's as close as they got though as
Paige Redmond hit back-to-back layups and the Jennies won by 12, 86-74.
It Was Over When...
• After the Griffins scored nine straight to open the third, the Jennies scored eight straight of their own to regain an 80-62 lead with 3:23 left to play and took all the momentum away from Westminster.
Jennies Stat Leaders

Megan Skaggs scored a game-high 22 points going 9-12 from the field and 9-9 inside the arc.

Morgan Fleming finished a rebound shy of a double-double with 18 points and nine rebounds. She also dished uot a game-high six assists.

Paige Redmond scored 13 points getting five at the free throw line.
•
Sydney Crockett buried two three-pointers and scored 11 points.
•
Morgan VanHyfte scored 10 with two three pointers and three rebounds.
For the Griffins
• Denise Gonzalez scored 22 points with five rebounds and four assists.
• Hunter Krebs added 14 points.
• Kaylee Carlsen scored 11 and Olivia Elliss 10.
News and Notes
• The 86 points for the Jennies were a season-high. They are now averaging. 82.5 points for their last two games.

Morgan VanHyfte's 10 points were a season-best with UCM.
•
Morgan Fleming went over 600 career points in the wins.
• The Jennies held the Griffins to just nine second-quarter points. It's the third time in four games UCM has held an opponent to 10 points or fewer in a quarter. The Jennies are 36-2 in the last three seasons in those games.
