KEARNEY, NEB. (Nov. 17, 2018) -- Central Missouri Wrestling was back on the mat again today at the University of Nebraska-Kearney Open.
Among the 11 wrestlers,
Justin Mitchell scored the team high of 3.5 points on the day competing in the Fresh/Soph 125 division. He received a bye in round one, before falling to Graham Shore (Air Force Prep) who won by major decision. He received a bye in the next round, before winning by decision over Marcus Santillanes(New Mexico Highlands) 9-2. In round four, Mitchell secured the victory in the first: 52 seconds over Brian Gates (Barton) by a fall.
Cole Hatfield and
Erick Vargas both finished with 3.0 points for UCM. Cold Hatfield, wrestled in the Fresh/Soph 157 weight-class received a bye in round one and won by major decision over Matthew Shuka (Northwestern (Iowa)) in round two 9-1. Eric Vargas, competed in the 125-pound division got a victory in round one a little shy of four-minutes by fall over Austin Boles (Northwestern (Iowa)).
Martin Brunnert (2.5), and
Chase Miller (1.0) also added points for the Mules in the match.
The Mules have a bit of a break from the mat, and will not compete again until Dec. 1 at the Luther Hill Invite in Indianola, Iowa.
