Redmond's 27 Carries Jens to Win

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Nov. 10, 2018) - Central Missouri Jennies Basketball overcame a poor start to comeback against Harding 63-51 Saturday night in Kansas City. The win puts the Jennies at 2-0 in 2018-19.

How it Happened
• The Jennies did a lot of damage from three, hitting 10 triples to the Bisons six.
• UCM finished the game shooting 39.6% while Harding was at 34.6%.
• Rebounding went by the way of the Bisons, 39-32. They also led with 13 second-chance points.
• The Jennies forced Harding into 19 turnovers and used those turnovers to score 11 points.
• It wasn't the start the Jennies were looking for as they trailed 18-6 after the first quarter and were just 2-15 from the floor. The Bisons shot 50% going 7-for-14 and 3-5 from three.
• As soon as the second quarter started though, the Jennies began their comeback. The defense forced five Harding turnovers and the Bisons were just 1-11 from the floor scoring just four second-quarter points. The Jennies scored 19 in the frame, getting 10 from Paige Redmond.
• Morgan Fleming tied the game at 20 with a layup with 4:42 left in the half, but the Bisons scored next to retake the lead. Sydney Crockett gave the Jens their first lead though, 23-22, with a three-pointer with 2:16 left to play in half. Fleming made another layup and both teams were scoreless over the final 1:47 and UCM took a 25-22 lead into the break.
• Coming out of the break, Harding used a 12-8 run to regain a one-point edge, 34-33, with six minutes left in the third. Two free throws from Fleming at the 4:58 mark gave the Jennies the lead back and they held onto it the rest of the way.
• Leading by five early in the fourth, the Jennies got back-to-back threes from Redmond and Peyton Taylor to take an 11-point lead, 52-41.
• The Jennies kept it at a three-possession game the rest of the way and put away the Bisons, 63-51.

It Was Over When...
• Harding got the lead back under 10 with less than three minutes to play and looked poised to make a final run when Emilie Jobst hit a crushing three with 2:17 left to play and UCM led by double-figures the rest of the way.

Jennies Stat Leaders
• Paige Redmond turned it on in the second quarter scoring all 27 points after the first. She was 9-19 and 5-10 from three with five rebounds and three assists.
• Morgan Fleming was the only other Jen in double-figures. She scored 12 and pulled down five rebounds with four assists.
• Megan Skaggs added seven points.
• The Jens got help from the bench in the form of Emilie Jobst and Peyton Taylor. Jobst hit a big fourth-quarter three and had four assists without a turnover and four steals. Taylor added five points and grabbed five boards with a blocked shot.
