• Set one was the most back-and-forth of the five with 12 ties and eight lead changes. With the score tied at 10, UCM scored four straight to take a 14-10 lead. That lead was short lived though as ESU went on a 9-4 run of their own to reclaim a late lead, 19-18. A service ace for the Hornets kept their lead at one, 21-20, but
Audrey Fisher scored the final five points of the set with five kills and UCM went on top with a 25-21 win.
• The second set started similarly to the first with the match tied up midway through at 14-14. Central Missouri took off after that, scoring 11 of the final 14 points for a 25-17 win.Â
• Emporia State scored the first seven points of set three and led end to end. The Jennies got the set close, down to two, 21-19, but couldn't come all the way back and the Hornets stayed alive, 25-22.Â
• For the second straight set, the Hornets didn't trail as they tied things up with a 25-20 set four win. They took a 10-5 lead before the Jennies were able to comeback and tie at 14-14. Leading by one, 19-18, the Hornets put the set away scoring four straight.
• ESU kept that momentum going to start the fifth set, taking a 6-3 lead, but the Jennies collected themselves to score seven of the next eight and take a 10-7 lead. Three of the final five UCM points came from ESU attack errors and
