Jennies Soccer falls to Emporia State

EMPORIA, Kan. (Oct. 21, 2018) - Central Missouri Soccer went 1-1 on the road this weekend in Kansas. The Jennies fell to Emporia State 3-1, and are now 12-3-1 overall and 6-2-1 in the MIAA.

How it Happened
• The Jens wasted no time to set the tone, Courtney Killian was the first on the board in the first thirty seconds of the match quickly putting UCM on top 1-0.
• Emporia State responded in the 16th minute with a goal from five yards out from Jacki Martinek.
• With the game tied up 1-1, Kennedy Hoffman broke the tie and scored the final goal of the first half, to give the Hornets the lead in the 18th minute 2-1.
• In the second half of play, Kennedy Hoffman put ESU on the board in the 56th minute to increase their lead 3-1.

Jennies Stat Leaders
• Courtney Killian scored the one and only goal for the Jennies, adding three shots and three shots on goal.
• Makayla Toth contributed three shots and one shot on goal on the day.
• Haley Freeman added one assist for the Jennies as one shot in the match.
• Maria Wilder, Emily Griffin, Makayla Martin and Jada Scott all contributed one shot for the Jens.
• Goalkeeper Lindsey Johnson faced 11 shots and grabbed two saves for the day.

For the Hornets
• Kennedy Hoffman led the Hornets with two goals, three shots, and two shots on goal.
• Jacki Martinek added one goal, two shots, two shots on goal and one assist in the match.
• Goalkeeper Jillian Patton had six saves on the day and faced 12 shots.

News and Notes
• The goal from Killian was her ninth goal of the season. 
• This is the first Jennies Soccer loss to Emporia State since 2005.
• The Jennies outshot the Hornets 12-11 and led in shots on goal 7-5.
