No. 4 Jennies Soccer Opens MIAA Play with 6-0 Win Over Northwest

WARRENSBURG, Mo. (Sept. 24, 2017)-- Central Missouri Jennies Soccer (8-0, 1-0 MIAA) opened up conference action with strong performance over the Northwest Missouri State Bearcats (3-4, 0-1 MIAA) scoring six goals en route to 6-0 shutout win Sunday afternoon at Jennies Field.

How It Happened
• The Jennies scored three goals in each period to secure the win. In the first period, they outshot the Bearcats 11-1 overall and 7-0 in shots on goal.
• Baylie Edwards scored the first goal for the Jennies in the sixth minute off an assist by Megan Woolley. Her goal proved to be the gamewinner as the Jennies were dominant the whole game.
• Jada Scott pushed the lead to 2-0 in the 10th minute off a pinpoint pass from Abby Rhodes. Scott's goal is her third off the season while Rhodes' assist is her second.
• UCM cushioned its lead to 3-0 in the 31st minute when Haley Freeman got down the middle of the field and nailed a shot into the right of the net past the goalkeeper's reach.
• Makayla Toth added to the lead in a 56th minute scoring off an assist from Scott to make it 4-0 for the Jennies. She got inside the right of the box and nailed her shot into the middle of the net. Toth's goal is her sixth of the season.
• Emma Jarrell scored her first career goal as Jennies in the 84th minute, when she got the ball from Edwards and popped it over the goalkeeper's head from 15 yards out before she got a hand on it.
• Jarrell notched her first career assist on the next goal for UCM, sending a pass to Edwards who scored from 15 yards out in the middle of the field.
• The Jennies added 11 shots in the second period, six of which were on goal.

Jennies Stat Leaders
• Edwards led the way for the Jennies offense totaling five points on two goals and an assist. She finished the game with four shots, all of which were on goal. Her two goals and one assist bring her season totals six and three, respectively.
• Scott was just one shot behind Edwards with three total with two of them on goal. As a team the Jennies had 22 total shots and 13 shots on goal.
• Goalkeeper Ana Dilkes grabbed four saves in seven shots faced as she earned her eighth win in net. She has posted shutouts in every win this season.
• Defensively, the Jennies gave up just seven shots, four of which were on goal, to the Bearcats which is their second best total of the season.

For the Bearcats
• Bri Wawiorka was the one player for Northwest to get off more than one shot against UCM with just two, one of which that came on goal.
• In net, Ashley Malloy grabbed seven saves in 22 shots faced while allowing six goals.

News and Notes
• The Jennies have posted eight straight shutouts for the second time in as many seasons and are just one away from tying their team record of nine.
• With their win on Sunday, UCM won its MIAA opening match for the 19th straight year. Since joining the MIAA in 1999, the Jennies still have yet to lose a conference opener.

• The Jennies will hit road for their next two MIAA games. Their first game will be at Nebraska-Kearney on Friday, Sept. 29. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
