Jennies Claim Share of Eighth Straight MIAA Regular Season Title

ST. CHARLES, Mo. (Oct. 27, 2017)-- Jennies Soccer kept their undefeated record intact as they shutout Lindenwood 3-0 Friday night at Hunter Stadium. With the win the Jennies move to 17-0-0 overall and 10-0-0 in MIAA play with one game left in the regular season.

How It Happened
• In a game that had colder conditions and strong winds, the Jennies still kept composure and controlled the tempo of the game against the Lions (5-11-1, 2-7-1 MIAA). The Jennies outshot the Lions 24-6 over the 90-minute frame, with an 11-3 shots on goal advantage.
• It took some time for the Jennies to score as Jada Scott score her first of two goals in the 29th minute. She got down the middle of the field off a botched pass by the Lions and hit the left end of the net.
• The Jennies took a 1-0 lead into halftime and outshot the Lions 9-3. The Jennies continued to apply pressure on offense taking 15 more shots while holding Lindenwood to three yet again.
• Scott pushed the Jennies lead to 2-0 in the 58th minute as she got inside the box and beat the goalkeeper to the right for her second goal of the game.
• Two minutes later, Haley Freeman added the Jennies final goal in the 60th minute. She got to the top of the box and popped the ball over the goalkeeper's head to put UCM up 3-0.

Jennies Stat Leaders
• Scott led the way for the Jennies totaling four points on two goals, while taking two shots, both on goal.
• Freeman added two points on one goal. She finished the night with two shots overall and one shot on goal.
• Mallory Kroencke took the most shots with four total and three being on goal. Makayla Toth was right behind Kroencke taking three shots overall, with two on goal.
• The Jennies distributed the ball well as 10 different players finished with a minimum of two shots.
• In net, Ana Dilkes tallied two saves in six shots faced as she and the Jennies defense earned their 15th shutout of the season.

For the Lions
• Morgan Weller was the only Lindenwood player to take more than one shot against the Jennies defense as she finished the night with two overall and one on goal.
• Goalkeeper Mary McGilvray grabbed eight saves in 24 shots faced while giving up three goals.

News and Notes
• With the win Friday night, the Jennies have clinched a share of the MIAA Regular Season Title for the eighth straight year. This is also their 10th regular season crown in the last 11 seasons, dating back to 2007.
• Scott entered the weekend with 98 career points, which is the most in UCM history. Her four points on Friday night put her career total at 102. She became the first player in program history to eclipse 100 career points. Her 40 career goals are now also the most in a Jennie uniform.
• Dilkes picked up career shutout No. 58 on Friday. She needs just one more to tie the all-time Division II record. She already owns the UCM and MIAA record for career shutouts.
• The Jennies have scored in 50 straight games played, which continues to extend their MIAA record.
• UCM is 17-0-0 for just the second time in program history. The only other team to win 17 straight games without a tie was the 2010 squad.
• The Jennies 15 shutouts are still the most in Division II this season.

Up Next
• The Jennies are in St. Joseph Sunday, Oct. 29, for regular season finale against the Missouri Western Griffons.
