JOPLIN, Mo. (Oct. 20, 2017)-- Central Missouri Jennies Soccer picked up program win No. 300 Friday night as they shutout the Missouri Southern Lions 2-0 at Hal Bodon Field. With the win, the Jennies improve to 15-0 overall and 8-0 in MIAA action.
How It Happened
• UCM controlled the entirety of the match allowing just one shot by MSSU (2-9-3, 2-5-1 MIAA). The Jennies took 27 shots overall, with 14 being on goal in the match.
• The first goal for UCM came at the midway point of the first period thanks to
Kayla Hamner. She handled a pass from
Jada Scott to score at the 22:37 mark. Scott was credited the assist as the Jennies took a 1-0 lead into halftime.
• Through 45 minutes of action, the Jennies outshot the Lions 15-1 overall with an 8-0 shots on goal edge.
• Scott added the second and final goal of the game late in the second period scoring in the 84th minute off an assist by
Abby Rhodes to make it a 2-0 advantage for the Jennies.
• UCM added 12 more shots overall in the second period with six of them coming on goal. They held the Lions to no shots in the second frame as they walked away with the 2-0 win.
Jennies Stat Leaders
• Hamner lead the way for the offense taking five total shots, two shots on goal and scoring the game winning goal.
• Scott tallied three points on one goal and assist, while taking taking two shots overall. She had one shot on goal.
• Three Jennies added four shots a piece in
Baylie Edwards, Rhodes, and
Makayla Toth. All of Edwards shots came on goal, while Rhodes had two on goal and Toth had three.
• Goalkeeper
Ana Dilkes only faced one shot all night and did not have to register a single save.
For the Lions
• Julie Liberty was the only player for MSSU to take a shot as she tallied one.
• In net, Luz Galindo grabbed 12 saves in 27 shots faced while allowing two goals.
News and Notes
• Friday night's win over the Lions is 300th win in program history. In 23 seasons of play, the Jennies are now a combined 300-127-30. Under Head Coach
Lewis Theobald, UCM is now 187-27-18.
• The Jennies have scored at least one goal in 48-straight games, which is an MIAA record.
• UCM still has yet to allow a goal in seven road games this season and has outscored opponents a combined 23-0.
• UCM is 15-0-0 for just the second time in program history. The last team to start 15-0-0 is the 2010 squad for UCM.

• The Jennies will continue their road trip to Bolivar to take on Southwest Baptist on Sunday, Oct. 22. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. at the SBU Bearcat Soccer Field.
