WARRENSBURG, Mo. (Oct. 13, 2017)-- Despite giving up their first goal of the season, Central Missouri Jennies Soccer still defeated the Emporia State Hornets 2-1 Friday night at Jennies Field to remain undefeated at 13-0 overall and 6-0 in the MIAA.
How It Happened
• The Jennies scored both goals in the first period after being down 1-0 early to the Hornets (6-5-2, 2-3-1 MIAA). UCM outshot ESU 8-4 in the first 45 minutes of action with a 6-2 shots on goal advantage.
• The Hornets got on the board first in the 14th minute after a deflection off the left post gave a Olivia Miller a window of opportunity and she nailed a shot into the right end of the net.
• UCM did not respond right away as they trailed 1-0 until the final five minutes of the first period.
Callie Henshaw made a 1-1 tie in the 41st minute. A deflected pass inside the middle box lined her up for a shot that she sent to the high right end of the net off the goalkeeper's hands.
• The Jennies wasted little time taking the lead back as
Abby Rhodes made a 2-1 advantage in the 42nd minute. She handled the ball from midfield beating every defender in front of her and scoring from the top middle of the box to the right corner of the net past the goalkeeper's reach.
• Neither team scored in the second period, but the Jennies controlled the pace as they held the Hornets to just two shots. For the game, the Jennies outshot the Hornets 17-6 overall and 10-3 in shots on goal.
Jennies Stat Leaders
• Rhodes and Henshaw led the way for UCM with two points apiece. Both players finished with just one shot each that were both on goal.
• Despite not scoring,
Baylie Edwards and
Makayla Toth both took the most shots with three, respectively. Edwards finished with two shots on goal,while Toth had one.
• In net,
Ana Dilkes picked up her 13th win of the season. She collected two saves while allowing one goal.Â
News and Notes
• The Jennies shutout streak ends at 12. Their 12 consecutive shutouts is a UCM and MIAA record. They are just the fourth team in NCAA Division II history to post 12 straight shutouts.Â
• Dilkes shutout record of 12 straight is also a UCM and MIAA record. She is just the seventh goalkeeper in Division II history to post over 1,000 consecutive shutout minutes (1,093:21).Â
• With the win Friday night, Head Coach
Lewis Theobald won his 100th career game at Jennies Field. He is 100-9-5 all-time at Jennies Field.Â
• The Jennies pushed their program and MIAA record of consecutive games of scoring a goal to 46.

The Jennies have their final home game of the regular season on Sunday Oct. 15. They will host the Washburn Ichabods for Senior Day as eight seniors will be recognized after the game. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. at Jennies Field.
