WARRENSBURG, Mo (Jan. 18, 2017)-- The Central Missouri Mules Wrestling team (5-6, 1-2 MIAA) dropped its fourth straight dual Wednesday night, falling to No. 23 Lindenwood, 41-11, at home. The Mules picked up individual wins from
Bradley Irwin at 141 pounds and
Steffon Fassett at 157 pounds, respectively.
The Mules started the dual forfeiting at 125 pounds, putting themselves in an early 6-0 hole. The Lions built their lead to 10-0 as 133 pounder
Daide Agnew dropped a 15-4 major decision to Hunter Haralson.
The Mules got points on the board when Irwin scored a 16-0 tech fall in 5:15 over Chase Kelley at 141 pounds, cutting the Lions lead to 16-5. Lindenwood pushed their lead back to double-digits as
Braxton Sparks was pinned in 1:29 at 149 pounds.
Central Missouri responded with Fassett pinning Marshall Green in 4:57 at 157 pounds, bringing the Mules within five, 16-11, at the halfway point of the dual. The Lions did not let the Mules score another team point as they won the remaining five weight classes.
Freshman
Jesse Reser dropped his first dual of the season at 165 pounds to Kyle Jolas via an 11-7 decision. The Mules were open at 184 pounds, pushing the Lions lead to 31-11. 197 pounder
Grant Sparks was pinned in 2:27, while
Chase Miller dropped at 10-1 major decision at 285 pounds.
The Mules will get a few days' rest before hosting Ouachita Baptist Saturday, Jan. 21, then hosting the Roger Denker Open Sunday, Jan. 22. Action for Saturday's dual will get underway at 1 p.m.
