ST. CLOUD, Minn. (Jan. 12, 2017)-- The Central Missouri Mules Wrestling team (4-2, 1-1 MIAA) dropped its second straight dual, as they fell to No. 1 St. Cloud State Thursday night on the road.
Jesse Reser and
Allan Person scored decisions at 165 pounds and 184 pounds in the loss, respectively.
The Huskies controlled the pace of the dual from the onset as they won the first five weight classes. The Mules started the night open at 125 pounds giving the Huskies the early 6-0 lead. At 133 pounds,
John Feeney fell to Joel Salomon via a 17-1 tech fall in the first period.
Bradley Irwin dropped a 11-4 decision at 141 pounds, pushing St. Cloud State's lead to 14-0. 149 pounder
Zachary Schridde dropped a 14-3 major decision to James Pleski, while 157 pounder
Steffon Fassett was pinned in 2:39, giving the Huskies a 24-0 lead at the midway point.
The Mules picked up their first points as Reser scored an 8-2 decision over Josh Berg at 165 pounds, bringing the score to 24-3. Reser improved his undefeated dual record to 6-0 while moving to 16-4 overall this season.
Competing in his first dual of the season, at 174 pounds,
Dylan Lewis fell via a 17-0 tech fall against Clayton Jennissen in the first period. The Mule scored one more time as 184 pounder
Allan Person picked a 5-4 decision over Chevy Farris, bringing the score to 29-6. The Mules did not score again as both
Grant Sparks and
Chase Miller were pinned at 197 pounds and 285 pounds, respectively.
The Mules will have a short break as they will travel to Kearney, Neb. Saturday, Jan. 14, to compete in the UNK Midwest Duals. They will compete against Colorado School of Mines, University of Mary, San Francisco State, and Southwest Minnesota State. Times for each dual are set for 9 a.m., 10:30 a.m., 12 p.m., and 1:30 p.m., respectively.
