ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (Sept. 23, 2016)-- The second ranked Central Missouri Jennies wrapped up non-conference play and remain undefeated after posting a 1-0 shutout win at Missouri Western. The Jennies improve to 6-0 this season and have posted shutouts in all six games.
Central Missouri got on the board early with a penalty kick from redshirt sophomore
Jada Scott. In net junior
Ana Dilkes collected three saves and picked up her sixth win of the season.
The Jennies pushed the pace early scoring in the sixth minute against the Griffons. Scott would get a penalty kick after being tripped up by a Missouri Western player when she went after a long pass from senior
Emily Eldridge. Scott fired her shot in the upper far right corner of the net well out of reach of the goalkeepr's hands.
Scott's penalty kick would prove to be the game winner and for the Jennies it is their third straight game ending with a 1-0 score in their favor. Scott's goal is her second of the season. Offensively, Central Missouri took just eight total shots and four shots on goal.
Defense would be the answer yet again for the Jennies, as they only allowed six total shots and two shots on goal to pick up their sixth straight shutout. The Jennies have now held their last five opponents to under ten total shots in a game. This is the first time in program history Central Missouri has started a season 6-0 and posted shutouts in every game.
The Jennies will start conference play this Sunday, Sept. 25 at Northwest Missouri State. The Jennies defeated the Bearcats 1-0 last week in Warrensburg in a non-conference match. Kick off for Sunday's match is set for noon.
