ST. CHARLES, Mo. (Sept. 16, 2016)-- The third ranked Central Missouri Jennies remain undefeated after handing the Lindenwood Lions their first loss of the season with a 1-0 shutout win on the road. The Jennies are now 4-0 on the season and have posted four straight shutout wins.
Junior
Baylie Edwards provided the lone goal of the match and gamewinner for the Jennies in the 13th minute. In net, junior keeper
Ana Dilkes stopped all three goals she faced to pick up her fourth win of the season. Dilkes now has 30 career shutout wins.Â
With threats of cancellation due to weather, the Jennies and Lions pushed the 7 p.m. kickoff an hour later and were able to play through rainfall during their match. The Jennies pushed the pace early getting three shots on goal in the first 13 minutes. It was in the 13th minute when Edwards got a shot past the goalkeeper's hands off an assist from
Kayla Hamner to put Central Missouri up 1-0.
Edwards gamewinner gives her two goals on the season and Hamner now has two assists.
The Jennies would continue their season trend of stiffling defense, holding Lindenwood to just three shots the whole match. The Jennies fourth straight shutout win of this season is a first in program history and it's the fourth time ever they have started a season 4-0.
The Jennies return home Sunday, Sept. 18 to take on MIAA foe Northwest Missouri State in a non-conference match. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. The Jennies lead Northwest Missouri State 24-3-4 all-time in the series.
