WARRENSBURG, Mo. (Sept. 13, 2016)-- Jennies Soccer climbs to No. 3 in this week's NSCAA Poll while staying undefeated at 3-0. Central Missouri is coming off a 2-0 road win at Southwest Minnesota State and was scheduled to play at Minot State on Saturday, Sept. 10, but the game was cancelled due to unplayable field conditions.
The Week Ahead
• The Jennies continue to move up in the NSCAA polls. They came into the year preseason ranked No. 5 and have moved up to No. 3 after their 3-0 start. They will look to carry that momentum in week three.
• This week's matches feature a pair of MIAA opponents, but the games will not be counted toward conference records.
• UCM will finish up their three game road trip Friday in St. Charles, Mo. against the Lindenwood Lions then return home on Sunday to face the Northwest Missouri State Bearcats.
Series History
Lindenwood: UCM leads 8-2
The Jennies have controlled the series against the Lions winning the last seven match-ups and outscoring them 26-0. The Lions last win against the Jennies came in 1997.
Northwest Missouri: UCM leads 24-3-4
UCM's match-up against NW Missouri dates back to 1999. Both teams have played each other at least twice each season since 2000. UCM has won the last 13 matches. The Bearcats last win came in 2008..
Scouting the Competititon
Lindenwood
• The Lions are undefeated to start the season with a 3-0 record, a first since 2013. Lindenwood finished 5-9-4 overall and 3-6-2 in conference play last year. The Lions finished 10th in the MIAA in 2015. They are preseason picked to finsh 10th again this year.
• The Lions return eight starters from last season including their top three goal scorers, senior Alexis Robbers and sophomores Becky Roberts and Kat Roe.
• The Lions have shared the ball exceptionally well through their first three games scoring eight goals and notching six assists.
• Roberts currently leads the team in points, goals, and shots on goal with nine, four, and six, respectively. Two of Roberts goals have also been game winners for Lindenwood.
• Freshman Payton Williams has made an early impact in her first season with Lindenwood leading the team in assists with two.
• Head Coach Laurie Kaminski picked up her 100th career victory when the Lions defeated Missouri S&T 4-3.
Northwest Missouri
• The Bearcats are 2-1 at the early point of the season with wins over Minnesota- Crookston and Sioux Falls. The Bearcats picked up their first shutout win of the season when they defeated Sioux Falls 5-0.
• The Bearcats finished 4-10-3 overall and 3-7-1 in conference play in 2015. Coming into this season, Northwest Missouri is preseason picked to finished 12th in the MIAA.
• The Bearcats bring in nine freshmen for the season with only three senior on this year's squad. Senior Cassie Phillips will be relied upon to lead this year's team.
• The Bearcats will take on Missouri Western Friday night before traveling to Warrensburg on Sunday to face the Jennies
• Northwest Missouri's match against the Jennies will be the 33rd overall match between the two schools. The Bearcats last defeated the Jennies in 2008.
• Since their last win against Central Missouri in 2008, the Bearcats are 0-13-1 in the series and have been outscored 47-3.
