WARRENSBURG, Mo. -- Three Mules recorded multi-hit games as the team fell 11-4 to No. 11 Emporia State Friday evening.
Tyler House took the mound for the Mules as they began a three-game series with the Hornets of Emporia State. The Hornets got to House early on as Emporia State plated five runs in the first inning. ESU tacked on another run in the second inning on a solo shot over the left field wall.
The Mules cut into the lead in the bottom half of the second inning as
Jackson Schnurbusch brought home
Matt Safranek and
Derek Cornell on a double to left center.
Emporia State scored in the sixth and eighth inning to jump out to an 11-2 lead over the Mules.
In the final frame, the Mules scored two on a two-out homerun from Bennet Oliver to trim the lead to 11-4.
Cole Distler flied out to left field for the final out of the game.
The loss drops the Mules to 20-9 overall, and 18-4 in the MIAA. Emporia improves to 26-7 overall and 18-4 in the MIAA.
The two teams will square off again tomorrow afternoon at 1 p.m.
