LIBERTY, Mo. (Nov. 1, 2016) - No. 16 Central Missouri Jennies Volleyball picked up their second straight win with a 3-0 sweep of William Jewell (25-14, 25-18, 25-23). The win closes out the Jennies nonconference schedule and puts UCM at 18-8 on the season.
The Jennies did something they hadn't done in over three years. They held the Cardinals to -0.010 hitting percentage. The last time UCM held an opponent to a negative hitting percentage was Sept. 17, 2013 against Missouri Southern. The Jens themselves hit .210 for the match, landing 36 kills.
For the third time in four games,
Maddie Jones led the Jennies offense knocking 12 kills.
Kylie Hohlen finished two kills shy of a double-double with eight kills and a game-high 14 digs.
Kourtney Thompson facilitated the offense with 29 assists.
The Jennies dominated in set number one, hitting .400 and holding the Cardinals to a -0.030 attack percentage. William Jewell scored the first point of the match, but UCM countered with three straight and never trailed the rest of the way. A kill from

The second set was tight at the start with the score knotted at 11-apiece. That's when UCM went on a 6-0 run, thanks in part to four straight Cardinal attack errors to open up a six-point lead, 17-11. Central Missouri was happy to trade points after their stretch, going on to win set two 25-18, taking a 2-0 lead.
Central Missouri jumped out to a big lead in the third and looked like they'd walk away with an easy sweep. But the Cardinals had other plans, and made the Jennies work to close out the win. After going up by a set-high six points, 17-11, WJC went on a 10-4 run to tie the set at 21-all.
Maddie Jones landed back-to-back kills to give UCM a two point lead, but the Cardinals again came back to tie, 23-23. The Jennies were able to hold on when a pair of Cardinal errors gave UCM a 25-23 win.
For the Cardinals, Paige Cunningham and Grace Miller each had a team-high seven kills. Alix Weigel collected 15 assists and Olivia Tolberd picked up 12 digs.
Central Missouri returns home for the first time since Oct. 21-22 this weekend when they host MIAA foes Emporia State and Washburn.
