LEBANON, ILL. -- The Mules Wrestling team fell on the road to No. 19 McKendree 31-19 Thursday evening at the Harry M. Statham Sports Center.

The Mules started out strong with Erick Vargas picking up his second pin in as many duals at 125 pounds, this one in 4:31 over Leslie Williams, to give the Mules an early 6-0 advantage.

McKendree tied things up at six when Naquan Hardy won by fall over Daide Agnew in 0:30 at 133 pounds.

The Bearcats took a 10-6 lead when fifth-ranked Darren Wynn won by major decision over Caleb Crabtree 19-5 at 141 pounds.

Mech Spraggins extended the Bearcat lead to 16-6 when he pinned Steffon Fassett in 6:51 at 149 pounds.

At 157 pounds, Zane Heiter fell to Isaiah Kemper by fall at 1:07, which gave McKendree a 22-6 lead.

Allan Person fell to Qiante Wagner in an 11-7 decision at 165 pounds to give the Bearcats a 25-6 lead.

Archie Williams put the Mules back in the win column with a 12-3 major decision victory over John Filipek at 174 to cut the lead to 25-10.

Cody Willis put the dual out of reach with a win by fall victory over Mike Boyd at 1:54 at 184 pounds to increase the lead to 31-10.

At 197 pounds, Robert Schneider won a 7-2 decision over Luke Diener to cut the lead to 31-13.

The Mules earned six points at 285 with McKendree forfeiting the weight class to bring the final to 31-19.

The loss drops the Mules to 5-2 on the season. The Mules will be back in action Saturday at 3 p.m. as they take on No. 5 Nebraska-Kearney at home in the Multipurpose Building.
