WARRENSBURG, Mo. -- The No. 1 Jennies opened MIAA play with a 4-0 shutout over Emporia State on Friday evening at Jennies Field.
Forward
Julie Ireland started off the scoring with a goal scored from close range in the 15th minute, off of an assist from midfielder
Nicole Pond. The goal is Ireland's seventh of the season.
The Jens made it 2-0 in the 18th minute when forward
Jada Scott found the back of the net on a corss from midfielder
Kayla Hamner. The goal was Scott's fourth goal of the year.
Midfielder
Megan Woolley extended the lead to 3-0 in the 35th minute when she scored off of an asssit from midfielder
Taylor Thompson. The goal was her fifth of the season.
The Jens scored their final goal of the night in the 65th minute when Woolley beat the keeper and found the back of the net again for her sixth goal of the season.
Ana Dilkes played all 90 minutes in goal for the shutout. She recorded four saves in the win.
The Jennies outshot Emporia 23-10.
The win improves the Jennies record to 7-0-0 overall and 1-0-0 in the MIAA, while Emporia falls to 4-3-0 overall and 0-1-0 in the MIAA.
UCM is back in action Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. as the Jennies play host to to the Washburn Ichabods in another MIAA matchup.
