WARRENSBURG, Mo. -- The No. 8 Jennies recorded their second shutout of the year in a 7-0 victory to win their seventh-straight home opener.
The Jens got on the board early as defender
Abby Rhodes scored her first goal of the season on a header in the third minute.
UCM got off a flurry of shots over the next four minutes but could not find the back of the net until forward
Julie Ireland added to the lead by sailing one over the head of the goalkeeper in the eighth minute of play. The goal was her second goal of the season. Forward
Hannah Pyle was credited with an assist on the goal.
The Jennies scored again five minutes later when forward
Jada Scott found midfielder
Megan Woolley who then beat the goalkeeper one-on-one and found the back of the net from about 10 yards out to put the Jens up 3-0.
Pyle scored the fourth and final goal of the first half for the Jennies on a header from about five yards out in the 17th minute.
UCM and Mary exchanged shots in the final minutes of the first half but neither team was able to score.
Neither team was able to score in the second half until Ireland scored her second goal of the game in the 76th minute to put the Jennies up 5-0.
UCM made it 6-0 in the 83rd minute of the game when midfielder
Allison Stanley scored her first goal as a Jennie on a shot from inside the goal box.
Emily Griffin had the assist on that goal, her first assist as a Jennie.
The final goal for the Jennies came in the 87th minute when forward
Mikala Modiri scored from about five yards out after receiving a pass from forward
Baylie Edwards.
The Jens did not allow a shot over the last 19 minutes of the game.
The Jennies outshot the Marauders 28-9.
The win improved UCM's record to 3-0-0, while Mary falls to 0-1-1.
The Jennies are back in action Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. against Minot State at Jennies Field at the South Rec Complex.
