Game NotesCentral Missouri will close out the regular season with a dual against the Newman Jets in Wichita, Kan. The Jets are 9-2 this season, and are without a win against an MIAA opponent.
Last season the Mules beat the Jets 42-6 on the road.
Justin Ensign is 3-2 against Newman, while Central Missouri is 7-3 against the team in program history.
The Jets had a win earlier this season against Indianapolis at the UCM Duals. Newman picked up three wins and a forfeit to take the dual at 25-21. They also beat Pratt Community College, 31-13.
After the dual Tuesday, the Mules will host the MIAA Championships on Sunday in the UCM Multipurpose Building. Lindenwood, Nebraska- Kearney, Central Oklahoma, Fort Hays State, Newman, and Central Missouri will each choose one wrestler to compete for the top spot in their weight class. The top three placewinners will earn All-MIAA honors.

The Mules forfeited the 125-pound and 141-pound bouts of the dual.
Malacai Collins (133) wrestled up a weight class, picking up a 11-7 decision over Anthony Calderon in between the open weights. Cagnina then had his third technical fall of the season over Jacob Kay, at 19-2, to bring the Mules within four points of the Tigers. After dropping the 157-pound match,
Josh Thomson (165) held on to a 4-3 lead against Kregg Clarke, for what would be the final Central Missouri win of the evening. Fort Hays State took the match at 30-11.
Mules Crown Two at the Jimmy May-Hem OpenSunday afternoon the Mules traveled to Baldwin City, Kan. for the Jimmy May-Hem Open, hosted by Baker University. Thomson and
Archie Williams (174) both claimed the top spot at the tournament, while
De'Quence Goodman (285) was a runner-up. Williams was also named the Outstanding Wrestler.
Thomson had two first period falls to start the tournament, first against Trevor Sutton (Baker) in 1:03, before recording the fastest fall of the season against Dakota Hall (Truman State) at 0:10. In the finals match Thomson beat Connor Middleton (Baker) in a close 3-2 decision.
Williams also advanced to the championship match with wins by pin. In his first bout of the tournament, Williams took out Dylan Wiesner (Fort Hays State) by fall at 6:54. He then pinned Zachary Balden (Baker) in 6:39, before recording his fastest fall of the day against Adrian Virgen (Bacone) at 2:52. Williams won his weight class with his first technical fall of the season against Tyler Webley (Baker) at 16-1.
Goodman had a fall in this first round over fellow-MIAA wrestler Zach Kearney (Fort Hays State). He then picked up a 3-0 decision in the quarterfinals against Tyler Smith (Bethany), before advancing to the championship match with another win by fall against Richard Black III (Neosho) at 1:02. In his final match of the day, Goodman was beat by Justin Scott (Fort Hays State) by 6-2 decision.

Frank Cagnina (149) is 16-1 overall this season. He is undefeated in duals, and has earned bonus points in every dual match, with the most team points on the team (43). He also has the most wins by major decision (7), and technical fall (3). Cagnina was named the MIAA and D2Wrestle.com National Wrestler of the Week once this year.
Josh Thomson (165) has won the most matches this season, with a 24-9 overall record. He is tied with Cagnina for most dual wins (9), and is second in team points earned (39). Thomson has the most pins on the team (12), and also had the fastest fall of the season (0:08) against Zachary Baldon (Baker) at the Jimmy May-Hem Open, where he finished first. He also competed at the UCM Open, the UNK Open, and the Simpson Invitational, taking third in the Elite Division at the UNK Open.
Williams is second in dual wins (8), and is third in team points scored (34), with an overall record of 18-10. He is tied for second in wins by fall (8), with the third fastest fall of the season against Andrew Bennett (Lindenwood-Belleville) at 0:47.
Malacai Collins also has 14 wins this year, with a 5-4 dual record. He was second at the UNK Open, in the Elite Division, and was first at the Simpson Invitational.
Robert Schneider and
Nicholas Lovejoy have both competed in the 197-pound and 285-pound weight class this season. Schneider had the second fastest fall of the season in 0:41 at the UNK Open, where is took fifth place and also had the most pin in the division. Lovejoy had the third fastest fall of the season at 0:46 over Gabriel Crumley (Central Baptist). Lovejoy is fourth in dual wins (7), and is fourth in team points (29).
Young was fifth in the Amateur Division at the UNK Open. He is 12-8 this season, and has a 6-3 dual record, with 25 team points.

A majority of the Jets team points have been earned by Tyler Mies (149), with bonus points in five of eight dual wins. He has beat two nationally ranked opponents this season, Josh Howk (St. Cloud State) and Spencer Rutherford (Central Oklahoma), both wrestlers were No. 8 at the time of the match. Mies was fourth at the UNK Open, and third at the Bob Smith Open, before finishing second at the Jet Invitational. Mies and
Frank Cagnina faced off earlier this season at the UCM Open, Cagnina taking the match by 18-4 major deicison.
Dustin Reed (125) was first at the Jet Invitational and was also named Outstanding Wrestler of the Tournament. He has six dual wins this season, five of six were by decision.
Malacai Collins beat Reed in their match up last season by 8-3 decision, but has not faced a Central Missouri wrestler since.
In the Jets last dual, the team fell to No. 9 Lindenwood. Mies, Noel Torres (165), and Bobby Bowman (197) picked up wins against the Lions. All three had decision wins, with Bowman beating No. 3 Kenny Breaux in the second to last bout of the match.
