Season StatsST. CHARLES, Mo. - Central Missouri Volleyball won their third straight MIAA match, defeating Lindenwood 3-0, 25-21, 25-10, 25-20. UCM improves to 16-2 this season and 4-1 in the MIAA.
Offensively, reigning AVCA National Player of the Week
Carly Sojka and
Maddie Jones each finished with a match-high 11 kills. Sojka also picked up 12 digs for her fifth straight double-double and knocked down a match-high five blocks.
Cheyanne Lyons chipped in with eight kills while
Kasey Hohlen scored nine points with seven kills and four block assists.
The Jennies were strong on the defensive end, holding the Lions to just a .057 attack percentage.
Annie Reilly led the team with 18 digs and UCM tied a season-high with nine blocks.
UCM jumped right out of the gates in the first set scoring the first four points of the match. Lindenwood rallied and scored the next five before the two teams began trading points. Late in the set, the Lions led 19-18 before the Jens scored the next three on two straight Lion errors and a Jones kill. Following a Lindenwood timeout, UCM got another kill from Jones and another LU error to take a 23-19 lead. Lindenwood got back to within three, but no closer and
Kylie Hohlen ended the set, 25-21 with her second kill.
The second set saw both teams again going back-and-forth before UCM took charge. After Lindenwood tied the set early at five, the Jennies dominated, closing the set on a 20-5 run and going up 2-0 in the match.
The Jens opened the third frame by taking an 8-4 lead, only to see the Lions come back to tie set at 10-apiece. UCM regained the lead but LU kept it close, getting back to within two, 20-18. That's as close as they came though and UCM put Lindenwood away with a kill from Lyons.
UCM plays two more matches this weekend, one at home and one on the road. The Jennies return home this Friday for a match against Missouri Western before getting right back on the road and traveling to Northwest Missouri on Saturday.
