Jennies Soccer clinches share of MIAA Regular Season Title with shutout over Lindenwood

ST. CHARLES, Mo. -- The No. 10 Jennies Soccer team clinched at least a share of the MIAA Regular Season Title with a 1-0 shutout over Lindenwood Friday evening. It's the Jennies' sixth straight MIAA Regular Season crown and the eighth title in the last nine years.

Central Missouri had the first shot of the night in the fourth minute on a header from forward Julie Ireland, but a save from the Lindenwood keeper kept the game ties at zero. The Jens had two more shots in the seventh minute but could not find the back of the net.

The Jennies got on the board in the 26th minute when Ireland picked up a rebound off of a shot and found the back of the net to put the Jens up 1-0. The goal was her 12th of the season.

The Lions attempted to answer back one minute later, but a save from goalkeeper Ana Dilkes kept Lindenwood off of the board.

The Jennies outshot the Lions 13-6 during the game, and held Lindenwood to only two shots in the second half.

Dilkes played all 90 minutes in goal for the Jens and recorded two saves in the shutout.

The win improves the Jennies record to 15-2 overall and 8-2 in the MIAA. Lindenwood falls to 5-8-4 overall and 3-5-2 in the MIAA. The win guarantees Central Missouri at least a share of their sixth-straight MIAA Regular Season title. The Jennies can clinch the title outright with a win or tie on Sunday against Missouri Western or a Northeastern State loss or tie against Southwest Baptist.

The Jennies travel to St. Joseph, Missouri on Sunday to take on Missouri Western at noon.
