WARRENSBURG, Mo. -- The No. 8 Jennies won a pivotal MIAA matchup with a 3-0 victory over Central Oklahoma Friday evening.
The Jens had the first shot of the night when
Kayla Hamner attempted to put the Jennies on the board in the third minute of action, but the ball was blocked by a number of defenders.
The Jennies first goal of the night came in the 38th minute when a handball in the box gave the Jens their first penalty kick attempt of the season.
Taylor Thompson made good on the attempt and put the Jennies up 1-0. The goal was Thompson's second of the year.
Their second goal of the night came in the 44th minute when
Emily Griffin found
Courtney Killian who headed it in for the goal. The goal was Killian's third of the year.
The Jens final goal came from
Julie Ireland in the 81st minute when she beat the defender and found the top right corner of the goal.
Ana Dilkes played all 90 minutes in goal and recorded three saves.
The Jens outshot the Bronchos 18-8.
The win improves the Jennies record to 12-1-0 and 6-1-0 in the MIAA, while Central Oklahoma falls to 7-5-1 and 4-2-1 in the MIAA.
The Jennies are back in action Sunday at 1 p.m. as they host Northeastern State in a matchup of the two top teams in the MIAA.
