Jada Scott records hat-trick as No. 9 Jennies Soccer beats SBU 5-1

BOLIVAR, Mo. -- Jada Scott records a hat-trick as the Jennies win 5-1 in a crucial MIAA game against Southwest Baptist.

Southwest Baptist recorded the first shot 23 seconds into the game, but a save from goalkeeper Ana Dilkes kept the game scoreless.

Scott had the first shot of the game for the Jens in the second minute of action, but missed wide.

Scott recorded the first of her three goals in the 25th minute. Abby Rhodes and Julie Ireland each got credit for an assist on the play. The goal was Scott's fifth of the year. It was Rhodes' fifth assist of the season and Ireland's first. The assist gave Rhodes' sole possession of seventh-place on the all-time career assists list for the Jens.

Southwest Baptist outshot Central Missouri in the first half 9-6.

Hannah Pyle scored her third goal of the season in the 65th minute to put the Jennies up 2-0. Courtney Killian was credited with the assist on the goal, her fourth of the year.

Pyle scored another goal in the 67th minute when she beat the goalkeeper one-on-one to give the Jens a 3-0 lead.

Southwest Baptist cut the lead to 3-1 when they scored on a corner kick in the 79th minute.

Scott scored the second of her three goals in the 88th minute when the defender misplayed the ball and left Scott facing the goalkeeper one-on-one. Scott took advantage of the miscue and found the back of the net for the sixth time this year.

Scott completed the hat-trick 43 seconds later when both the defender and the goalkeeper misplayed the ball and left Scott with an open net. The goal was her seventh of the season.

Ana Dilkes once again played all 90 minutes in goal for UCM as she recorded seven saves and allowed one goal.

The win improves UCM's record to 11-1 overall and 5-1 in the MIAA. SBU falls to 7-5 overall and 4-2 in the MIAA.

The Jennies are back in action Friday at 7 p.m. as they host Central Oklahoma in another pivotal MIAA showdown.
