Central Missouri and Lindenwood at tied at 7-7 in the series record. The Mules last faced the Lions on Jan. 22, 2014. The Lions won the dual, 26-16. The Mules started the meet strong,
Zeb Spicer weighing in at 157 pinned Tyler Sexton at 3:55 in the 174 match. The Mules dropped the next five matches, to fall behind 22-6.
Eric Mateo won with a 11-9 decision over Kyle Webb, followed by
Frank Cagnina's major decision 19-6 win over Colton Orlando.
Ty Loethen finished the match with a 7-0 decision over Luke Roth.
This season opened the season with a conference win against Fort Hays State (17-16). The Lions then competed at the National Duals in Fort Wayne, Ind. Lindenwood went 2-3 at the tournament, beating No. 12 Kutztown (21-15) and Augustana (24-13).
The team then beat No. 7 McKendree (23-12) , before competing at the UNK Midwest Duals. The Lions fell to California Baptist (31-7), but beat Minot State (42-9), Northern State (41-6), and Mary (41-3). Last week the Lions had dual against Central Oklahoma on their home mat. Lindenwood fell to the Bronchos at the National Duals (20-19), but walked away with a win from their rematch (19-16).
Mules Fall Twice Before Roger Denker OpenLast week the Mules face No. 7 McKendree on the road before hosting No. 8 Central Oklahoma and the Roger Denker Open.
Evan Young (157) and
Archie Williams (174) were the only Mules to go without a loss on the week.
At McKendree, Young beat Josh Ballard by 10-5 decision, and Williams pinned former national qualifier Luis Alba in 2:29. The two combined for nine team points, and the only Central Missouri points scored in the dual.
On Saturday, Young and Williams each had a decision over their opponent from Central Oklahoma.
Nicholas Lovejoy also added team points, with a major decision against Marlon Houston.
The following day, at the Roger Denker Open, Central Missouri had three placewinners. Both Levi Turley and
Robert Schneider took fourth place in the tournament. Turley went 2-2, with a decision and a pin. Schneider was also 2-2, both wins were by fall.
Grant Sparks was fifth place with a 1-2 performance.

Frank Cagnina leads the Mules in winning percentage (.938), wins by major decision (7), technical fall (2), and team points (38). He has the second most wins on the team, with a 15-1 overall record, and is unbeaten in duals. Cagnina is tied for third in wins by fall (3), with the fourth fastest fall of the season at 0:53 against Marcus Aleman (Doane College) at the UNK Open. Cagnina was second at the UCM Open, and was named the MIAA Wrestler of the Week and the D2Wrestle.com National Wrestler of the Week.
Josh Thomson (165) has won the most matches this season, with a 19-9 overall record. He is tied with Cagnina for most dual wins (8), and is second in team points earned (36) and winning percentage (.679). Thomson has the most pins on the team (10), with his fastest fall coming at 1:14 against Blake Hampton (Labette CC) at the Simpson Invitational. He competed at the UCM Open, the UNK Open, and the Simpson Invitational, taking third in the Elite Division at the UNK Open.
Williams is tied for third in dual wins (7), and is third in team points scored (31). He is also tied for third in wins by fall (5), and had the third fastest fall of the season against Andrew Bennett (Lindenwood-Belleville) at 0:47. Williams was the only Mule to pick up three wins at the UCM Duals. He beat No. 8 Clayton Jennissen (St. Cloud State) and Randy Caris by decision, before bumping up a weight class to take a 13-3 major decision over Tyler Scott (Indianapolis).
Malacai Collins also has 13 wins this year. He was second at the UNK Open, in the Elite Division, and was first at the Simpson Invitational.
Robert Schneider and
Nicholas Lovejoy have both competed in the 197-pound and 285-pound weight class this season. Schneider had the fastest fall of the season in 0:41 at the UNK Open, where he took fifth place and also had the most pins in the division. Lovejoy had the second fastest fall of the season at 0:46 over Gabriel Crumley (Central Baptist). Lovejoy is tied for third in dual wins (7), and is fourth in team points (29).
Young was fifth in the Amateur Division at the UNK Open. He is 11-7 this season, and has a 5-2 dual record, with 19 team points. He had the fifth fastest fall of the season, in 1:03 against Devin Combs (Minot State) at the UNK Midwest Duals.

Lindenwood has four nationally ranked wrestlers, and is tenth as a team, with three returning All-Americans.
No. 3 Kenny Breaux (197) has earned the most team points for the Lions (34), with a 19-5 overall record. He is 9-2 in duals, with his only losses coming from No. 4 Ryan Beltz (Maryville) and Paul Head (California Baptist). Breaux was third at the UCM Open, and fourth at the Joe Parisi Open. Last season Breaux had two wins against Central Missouri wrestlers, including a 10-3 decision over Lovejoy at the MIAA Championships.
Terrel Wilbourn (149) is also ranked No. 3 nationally, with a 4-1 overall record. His only loss this season was to Keenan Hagerty in overtime. Cagnina beat Wilbourn in two close matches last season, first at the MIAA Championships, and then in the semifinal match at NCAA-II Nationals. Wilbourn ultimately finished third last season, earning All-American honors.
No. 5 Kyle Webb (141) is 20-9 this season, with a 7-3 dual record and 30 team points scored. Webb was eighth at nationals last season, earning All-American honors. Webb was fifth at the UCM Open, before earning the top spot at the Midwest Classic. He was also named the Outstanding Wrestler of the tournament.
Marco Tamayo (125) is the final Lindenwood wrestler to be ranked, at No. 6. He was sixth at nationals last season, and beating Collins with a 6-2 decision in a dual. He is 6-2 overall and in duals this year, with 25 team points scored this season.
