Wrestling falls at McKendree

Lebanon, Ill. – Central Missouri fell to the No. 7 McKendree Bearcats on Wednesday evening. Evan Young (157) and Archie Williams (174) were the only Mules to collect team points in the 44-9 loss.
 
Injuries continue to plague the Mules, and the team was forced to forfeit the first three weight classes of the dual. Trent Williams (149) pinned Ali Zantout in 0:24 in the fourth round of the dual, extending the Bearcat's lead to 24-0. Young then took his match against Josh Ballard with a 10-5 decision, putting the Mules on the board at 24-3. No. 2 Nick Haferkamp (165) followed with another six points for McKendree, pinning Zebuland Spicer (157) at 5:55. Williams (174) fired back with a pin of his own over Luis Alba at 2:29, but that was the last match the Mules were able to win in the dual.
 
The Mules will host No. 8 Central Oklahoma on Saturday. The dual will begin at 4 p.m. in the UCM Multipurpose Building. The next day Central Missouri will host the Roger Denker Open, which will begin at 10 a.m.
