No. 16 Central Missouri (8-5, 5-0 MIAA) beat Emporia State (4-6, 0-5 MIAA) in four sets, 22-25, 25-20, 25-18, 25-19, on Friday evening. The Jens had 65 kills and 10 blocks in the match.

Emporia took the lead in set one within the first ten points of the match. The Jennies tied the score 11 times in the set, but did not pull ahead of the Hornets. The score was close through the entire second set, with only a point or two separating the score. Central Missouri was able to hold the Hornets at 19, while they tallied three points to take a 23-19 lead. Emporia scored one more point before the Jennies had two to win the set and tie the match. The Hornet led the Jennies through the first half of the third set, but Central Missouri scored seven points in a row to take a 20-16 lead. The set was won with a kill from Carly Sojka, giving the Jens a 2-1 lead in the match. Central Missouri won the final set of the match with ease, the Hornets only lead was off the first point of the set. Emporia held the Jennies at match point for three points, Haley Thompson eventually finished the match with a kill.

Sojka had a team-high 22 kills, and hit .429 in the match. She also had 14 digs for her fourth double-double of the year. Kourtney Thompson also had a double-double, her fifth of the season, with a career-high 56 kills and 10 digs. She also had four blocks and three kills. Annie Reilly had four aces and 29 digs. Shelby Winkelmann also had an ace in the match, with 11 digs and five kills. Maddie Jones had the most points on the team, with 19 kills and six blocks for 22.5 points. H. Thompson had 9 kills and hit .381, with two blocks. Becca Blaise had five blocks and 16 digs in four sets.

The Jens will face No. 8 Washburn Saturday afternoon in Topeka, Kan.
