Ireland's two goals lifts No. 24 Jennies soccer to 3-0 win over Northwest Missouri

WARRENSBURG, Mo. -- The 24th ranked Jennies soccer team kept its unbeaten streak intact, shutting out visiting Northwest Missouri, 3-0 at the South Recreation Complex Sunday afternoon.

With the victory, the Jennies improve to 5-0-1 and 2-0-0 in MIAA play. Junior forward Julie Ireland's first of two goals came in the 13th minute when she received a Baylie Edwards pass and fired a shot from about 25 feet away that found the back of the net.

UCM took a 1-0 lead into the half and added a second goal from the Ireland when she dribbled the ball along the right side of the and snuck a shot into the right side of the net, boosting her team's advantage to 2-0. 

The Jennies put the game away in the 75th minute when Megan Woolley fed Alex Yockey with a pass from the left side and finished the play with a score, cementing a 3-0 lead.

UCM outshot Northwest Missouri 21-1 and allowed the lone shot attempt in the game's second half. 

The Jennies are off to their best start since 2010 when they opened the season 6-0. The five shutouts for the defense is the most in the first six games since 2011 when they had four. 

They will look to run their win streak to four games on Sept. 26 at Emporia State for a 7 p.m. first kick.
