Pittsburg, Kan.-- UCM Track & Field competed in the Pittsburg State Gorilla Classic on Saturday, finishing the meet with eleven provisional marks and several placewinners.
Heavin Warner had a provisional mark in the hammer throw, discus, and shot put. She was first in hammer throw with an automatic qualifying mark at 199' 0''. She also won shot put at with a 45' 10.5'' throw, and was seventh in discus (144' 3''). Teammate Brooke Swearingin won the discus throw, with a provisional at 163' 5''. Haley Heuer was eighth in the hammer throw (150' 5'') and shot put (39' 6.5'').
Mary Riley won the javelin with a throw of 149' 4''. Rachel Mincemeyer took seventh in pole vault (11' 2.5''). Madison Smith and Nikki Douglas took first and second, respectively, in the 100m hurdles. Smith had a personal-best performance with a time of 14.00, and Douglas was right behind her at 14.20. Smith also placed fourth in high jump (5' 5.25''). Douglas won the 400m hurdles with a provisional mark at 1:01.15.
Devin Claypool was first in high jump, with a provisional mark at 6' 8.25''. Chris Swearingin had a provisional mark in the javelin, at 205' 5'', finishing in first place. Jacob Prindle was third in the hammer throw (172' 2'') and eighth in discus with a provisional mark at 162' 2''.
Jacob Mahin also placed in discus, with a 162' 8'' provisional mark. Andre Wooten was fifth in triple jump (45' 9''). Cole Phillips finished third in pole vault with a provisional mark at 16' 5.5''. Teammate Billy Leutzinger also placed in pole vault, finishing sixth with a 15' 3.75'' vault. Hassan Ilyas was sixth in the 110m hurldes at 14.95. Lindell Watkins and Dominic Price placed seventh and eighth in the 400m hurdles. Watkins had a time of 57.14, and Price was right behind him at 58.12.
Six Mules placed in the top eight of the 800m run. Kellin Loch won the event at 1:54.22. Cole Davis and Ross Lorber were third and fourth at 1:55.21 and 1:55.92, respectively. Justin Romero took seven with a time of 1:57.32, and Brady Jacobs was eighth at 1:58.02. Chase McCoy took sixth in the 200m dash, with a time of 22.0. Mccoy also placed third in the 100m dash (10.69), and Marquis Jones was second (10.68).
The Mules and Jennies will host the Mule Relays next Friday at Walton Stadium. The meet will begin at 1 p.m.
