Emporia, Kan.— The UCM Multi-event athletes finished the remaining events at the Emporia State Multi on Friday afternoon with
Erin Alewine capturing the heptathlon title.
Alewine won the heptathlon with 4986 total points. She was third in the long jump (18' 1'') and the 800m run (2:25.29), and finished 13
th in javelin at 97'1.25''.
Katie Cassidy took 10
th in the heptathlon with 4227 points, and teammate
Emily Heissler was 17
th at 3642 points. Cassidy was second in the 800m run, with a time of 2:21.61, while placing 11
th in long jump (15' 10.5'') and 18
th in javelin (79' 3.50''). Heissler was seventh in javelin, with a throw of 107' 4.75". She finished 17
th in the 800m run (2:47.05) and 20
th in long jump (14' 1.25'').
Bryan Dougherty and
Sam Hunt tied for 23
rd. The pair faulted in the pole vault, and then pulled out of the competition before the 1500m run. Dougherty finished the discus throw in third, at 114' 11.75", and was 15
th in javelin (132' 10.75"). Hunt was 12
th in discus at 90' 0.25", and took seventh in javelin at 147' 8.75".
UCM Track & Field will compete in Pittsburg, Kan. Saturday at the Pittsburg State Gorilla Classic, starting at 12 p.m.
