Jennies Volleyball takes on Lindenwood tonight

Last Week ...

The Jennies started last week up to places in the AVCA poll, to No. 15, after beating Fort Hays and then-No. 5 Nebraska-Kearney at home the previous weekend. Annie Reilly was named the MIAA Specialist of the Week, and Carly Sojka was earned National and  MIAA Hitter of the Week honors. Central Missouri then split their road matches last weekend, with a win over Missouri Southern followed by a loss to Central Oklahoma. As a team, Central Missouri hit .170, and averaged 12.60 kills per set with 14.0 blocks total in ten sets. 

On Friday Missouri Southern forced the match into extra sets after the Jennies won the first two, 25-17, 25-16, 21-25, 26-28, 16-14. Central Missouri hit .186 in the match, with six aces, and seven blocks total. Sojka tied a career-high 26 kills and had her sixth double-double of the season with 12 digs. Haley Thompson and Mackenzie Harding had ten kills each, H. Thompson added five blocks while Harding had one block. Kourtney Thompson hit a team-high .462, and had 53 assists. Shelby Winkelmann and Becca Blaise each had 12 digs and an ace. Reilly had three aces, and 16 digs in the match. 

Central Oklahoma dealt the Jennies their second MIAA loss of the season on Saturday in five sets, 25-16, 16-25, 13-25, 25-15, 10-15. It was the first time that the Bronchos had beat the Jennies in program history. Sojka had another double-double with 17 kills and 13 digs. K. Thompson also had a double-double, with 42 assists and 17 digs. Maddie Jones had 14 kills, and the team-high hitting percentage at .321. H. Thompson had 11 kills, and three blocks. Harding also had three blocks. Annie Reilly matches a career-high 33 digs, and was held without an ace for only the fourth match this season.  Winkelmann, Sojka, and K. Thompson all served an ace in the match.  

Central Missouri Jennies
Sojka leads the team and is third in the MIAA in kills. She has had 3.90 kills per set, with a .196 hitting percentage this season. Sojka is also third on the squad in digs and second in blocks, with 2.67 digs per set and 0.45 blocks per set. She has had seven double-doubles this season, and has had the most kills on the team in 12 matches this season. Against Missouri Southern, she matched a career-high 26 kills, which is also the highest kills recorded in the MIAA this season.

Reilly has had at least one ace in 14 matches this season, with 37 aces in conference play alone. She averages 0.78 aces per set, which is currently the best average in the NCAA-II. She leads the MIAA in digs, with 5.70 digs per set, and has had only three receiving errors in 60 sets this season. She had tied the Central Missouri record for aces in a single match twice this season, serving eight aces against Pittsburg State and Fort Hays State. 

H. Thompson has hit over .300 in 10 matches this season, and has had at least one block in every match. She leads the Jennies and is fifth in the MIAA in blocks, averaging 1.03 blocks per set. H. Thompson also has the best hitting percentage on the team, at .310. She has matched her career-record in blocks twice this season, with seven blocks against Missouri Western and then-No. 5 Nebraska-Kearney. 

K. Thompson is fifth in the MIAA in assists, with 9.80 assists per set. She has had seven double-doubles this season. Blaise has had at least one block in eight of 10 conference matches this season, with an average 0.43 blocks per set including tournament play. Jones has led the Jennies in blocks four times this season. She averages 1.96 kills per set and 2.18 points per set. Shelby Winkelmann is second on the team in digs and aces. She has served 14 aces this season, and averages 2.88 digs per set. 

Katie Carlson made her collegiate debut in the in the fourth set of the Jennies match against Nebraska-Kearney. She came in as a defensive specialist, after Blaise had to leave the match as a result of an injury. She also checked into to serve against Missouri Southern. Mackenzie Harding has played in 25 sets, with two starts this season. She has had 31 kills and 15 blocks. Lauren Dudgeon has had 22 kills and six blocks in 14 matches this season. 

Opponent Preview
The Jennies played Lindenwood last month, on Sept. 23. The Jennies did not allow Lindenwood to score more than 16 points in three sets, sweeping the match at 25-16, 25-12, 25-15. Three Jennie starters hit over .300 in the match, H. Thompson had the highest attack percentage at .583. H. Thompson and Jones had a team-high seven kills. Reilly had two aces, and Winkelman had one in three sets. Reilly also had 20 digs, while K. Thompson had 27 assists. H. Thompson and Blaise both had a team-high four blocks. 

Paige Straatman was the leading scorer for the Lions, with seven kills. Jessica Krygsheld had three blocks in the match, the most on the team. Anna Reichert had 11 digs in the match, and was the only member of the Lindenwood team to reach double-digits. 

Lindenwood lost both of their matches last weekend. Central Oklahoma beat the Lions in three, followed by a four set loss to Missouri Southern.

The Lions are fourth in the MIAA in blocks and aces, but do not break the top five in any other statistical category. Lindenwood runs a 5-2 offense, their two setters are Sarah-Jane Pavlik and Ivy Reynolds. Pavlik averages 7.46 assists per set, while Reynolds has 5.33 assists per set. Sarah Makowski is third in the MIAA in blocks, with 1.37 per set. Shannon Doyle leads Lindenwood in kills, with 2.76 kills per set, and Anna Reichert has the most digs per set on the team (3.96).
