QUINCY, Ill. -- Daylen Robinson hit a jump shot with seven seconds left to lift Central Missouri to a 79-78 win over Quincy on Saturday night at Pepsi Arena. The Hawks had taken a one point lead on a pair of free throws with :30 on the clock.

The Mules (5-0) jumped out to a 5-2 lead in the early going only to see Quincy (2-4) respond with an 8-2 run to take the lead with 13:06 to play in the half. A 14-4 run by Central Missouri gave the Mules a seven point lead just past the halfway point of the stanza.

The Hawks closed to within a point with 6:03 to play in the half at 25-24, but a 16-8 spurt for UCM pushed the lead back to nine at 41-32 with 2:18 to play in the half. Quincy responded with a run of their, closing the half scoring eight of the final 11 points to pull within 44-40 at halftime.

Central Missouri opened the second half on a 7-2 run to push the lead back to nine, but the Hawks came right back with an 8-0 run to pull within a point. The Mules pushed the lead back to seven with six straight points, but Quincy wouldn't quit.

The Hawks responded with a 10-0 run to regain the lead at 60-57. QU led 63-60 when Central Missouri scored six straight points to go back in front 66-63. Four straight by Quincy made it a 67-66 game, but Robinson's three-pointer put UCM back in front.

The game was tied at 72-all with 3:20 left in regulation when Jordan Epps drilled a three-pointer to put UCM in front again at 75-72. Four straight free throws by Quincy gave the Hawks a 76-75 lead with 2:26 to play.

Robinson connected on a pair of free throws with :40 on the clock to put the Mules in front by one, but Dalton Hoover hit a pair for QU with :30 left to give the Hawks a 78-77 lead. That set up the finish for Robinson.

He drilled the jumper with :07 ticks left to give UCM the advantage. Quincy had one final chance, but Chris Babbitt's miss was rebounded by TJ White and the Mules escaped with the win.

Robinson led four Mules in double figures with a game-high 18 points and nine assists. Epps had 17 points  and four assists. Dillon Deck had a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds and White added 12 points to go along with seven rebounds.

The Mules shot 51 percent from the field, 29 of 57, including 8 of 14 from three point range for 57 percent. UCM was 13 of 23 at the foul line for 57 percent. The Mules out-rebounded Quincy 42-22 and held a 17-6 advantage in second chance points.

Quincy shot 26 of 51 from the floor for 51 percent, but just 5 of 13 from beyond the arc for 39 percent. The Hawks made 21 of 27 from the charity stripe for 78 percent.

The Mules had 16 assists compared to 14 for QU, but did turn it over 14 times.

Central Missouri is back in action next Friday and Saturday at the St. Mary's Thanksgiving Classic in San Antonio, Texas. UCM will play St. Mary's on Nov. 29 at 7:30 p.m. and Southeastern Oklahoma State on Nov. 30 at 5 p.m. Both games can be heard live on 98.5 The Bar, 1450 KOKO and warrensburgradio.com.
