(HAYS, Kan.) - Eighth ranked Jennies soccer (4-0-1, 1-0 MIAA) picked up a 1-0 victory over Fort Hays State (3-2-0, 0-1 MIAA) Friday night in Hays, Kansas, scoring a goal with only 15 seconds remaining in the match to pick up their first MIAA win of 2012.
The first period was a battle, with neither team able to find the goal. The Jennies outshot the Tigers 5-0 on-goal and 10-5 overall in the opening stanza but each time were thwarted by the Fort Hays State defense. Central Missouri also held a commanding 7-0 advantage in corner kicks in the first half.
The second half was much of the same for both teams the first 89 minutes and 45 seconds, with both defenses refusing to break. That all changed in the final minute of play though. Jennies freshman striker
Alexis Robbers was fouled by Fort Hays State and awarded a free kick. Robbers stepped up a drilled the kick from 15 yards out, straight into the back of the net, giving the Jennies the thrilling 1-0 win over the Tigers. It was Robbers second goal of the season and her first game-winner of her collegiate career.

Jessica Grindstaff had three saves on the night, all coming in the second half, to pick up her second consecutive shutout and improve her overall record in-goal to 2-0-1 on the young season.
The Jennies are back in action Sunday afternoon when they travel to Kearney, Neb. to battle new MIAA foe Nebraska-Kearney in a 1 p.m. match at Cope Stadium at Foster Field.
