SAINT JOSEPH, Mo. -- Jennies soccer (11-1-3, 7-0-2 MIAA) scored two first half goals and rolled to a 2-0 shutout win at Missouri Western (4-9-1, 2-7-1 MIAA) Friday night in Saint Joseph.
Alexis Robbers headed home a
Kayla Shain corner kick giving the Jennies the early 1-0 lead just 15 minutes into the match. It's Robber's team-high seventh goal of the season and Shain's team-high fourth assist.
The Jennies scored the second goal of the match just 12 minutes later when
Carly Stanley corralled the ball and passed it to an unmarked
Becky Lackey. Lackey controlled the pass and hammered it into the back of the net giving the Jennies a 2-0 lead. The goal is Lackey's fifth while Stanley's assist is her second of 2012.
Jennies goalkeeper
Morgan Hartzler posted her third consecutive shutout in-goal and only had to save one shot thanks to stifling Jennies defense. Her record in-goal is now 4-0-1.
Central Missouri controlled the match from the opening whistle, outshooting Missouri Western, 10-3, including a 4-2 corner kick advantage.
The Jennies return to action Sunday afternoon when they travel to Maryville for an MIAA match with Northwest Missouri State. First kick from Bearcat Pitch is set for 1 p.m.
