TAHLEQUAH, Okla. --
Jennies soccer (10-1-3, 6-0-2 MIAA) netted a 1-0 win Sunday morning against the Riverhawks of Northeastern State University (9-4, 5-4 MIAA) at Doc Wadley Stadium in Tahlequah. The match was played at 9 a.m. after being rained out Saturday night.

The Jennies controlled the match from the start, outshooting the Riverhawks in the first period, 8-1, but couldn't find the back of the net.

That changed though in the 66th minute of the second period. Jennies midfielder Kayla Shain had a free kick from 30 yards out and sent it barreling towards the net. The ball deflected off Riverhawk defender Jessy Phillips' head into the goal, giving the Jennies the 1-0 lead.

The goal was offcially ruled an own goal by Northeastern State.

Central Missouri outshot Northeastern State 12-6 in the match, including a 7-3 advantage in shots-on-goal. Jennies goalkeeper Morgan Hartzler had three saves and picked up her second straight shuout in-goal. Her overall record now stands at 3-0-1.

The Jennies return to the pitch Friday night in St. Joseph, Missouri for an MIAA match with Missouri Western. First-kick is set for 7 p.m. at Spratt Stadium.
