No. 15 Jennies Soccer claims 3-0 win at Missouri Southern Saturday afternoon

(JOPLIN, Mo.) – The University of Central Missouri Jennies (7-1-0) outshot the Lions of Missouri Southern 18-6 on their way to a 3-0 victory Saturday afternoon at Hal Bodon Field in Joplin, Missouri. 
      The first half saw both teams in a defensive battle for the first 18-minutes until Central Missouri's Kristin Bright (Fenton, Mo.) controlled a corner kick from Carly Stanley (De Soto, Kan.) and hammered it into the net in the 19th minute to make it 1-0 Jennies.  The Jennies would get another goal 10-minutes later after a ball intended for Missouri Southern's Courtney Sanders inadvertently deflected off her into the goal, resulting in a goal for Central Missouri, extending its lead to 2-0 heading into halftime. 
      For the half, the Jennies outshot the Lions 10-1 with a 4-0 advantage in corner kicks. 
      The second half started quickly for Central Missouri. Just 11-minutes into the half, in the 56th minute, the Jennies extended their lead to 3-0 after Bright forced a shot from 20 yards out just out of reach of Missouri Southern goalkeeper Randi Russell resulting in her second goal of the match and third goal of the season. 
      The 18-6 shot differential in today's match marks the second-consecutive match Central Missouri has outshot its opponents by double-digits. 
      Jennies' goalkeeper Brooke Cooley (Alton, Ill.) collected no saves in the match today but still improved her overall record in goal to 7-1-0.  With the win, the Jennies improve to 7-1-0 overall while Missouri Southern falls to 0-6-1 on the season.
            Central Missouri takes on Southwest Baptist Thursday night at home in the first official MIAA Match of the season.  First kick from Jennies Field at the South Recreation Complex in Warrensburg is set for 7 p.m.
